What is Happening, part II

And the high school spring musical will be - "Anything Goes!" Lots of tap dancing and fun. Our daughter's boyfriend is the high school choir and musical director. He also designs and builds most of the sets (our daughter helps with painting). He'll be very busy!

Annie Live "the musical" was on tv last night. We did not watch it but that reminded me that I saw the original first show at The Good Speed Opera House here in Connecticut with the very first Annie many years ago. Fast forward to today and the director of our high school musicals (along with our daughter's boyfriend who is the Music Director) is good friends with the now adult woman who played that first Annie. Small world!

It seems it is the season for losing parents. My mother slipped away peacefully last night. At 96 and almost completely blind, I'm sure she'll be pleased to be earning her wings. One of my sisters had a dream a couple of nights ago of her, young, pretty, and walking off hand-in-hand with Dad, who was also young and very good-looking. I posted a notice on my facebook page with a photo of her asleep in the sun on the couch with her two favourite cats.

Sorry for your loss!! One day, you'll see her again!!! Yesterday afternoon, I went shopping at a family dollar!! One of the things I got was a charger cord for my tablet!

I didn't win any of the "Light Up" prizes but had a very nice walk downtown to watch the parade. The businesses that participated did a fabulous job and all the vehicles had loads of decorations, flashing lights, music and riders. There were several fire pits downtown where you could warm up as well as popcorn and hot chocolate. One place even had an adult version where you could get a shot of Baileys in your drink. That by the way, was my favourite stop.

We're losing several of the older buildings in town. They've sat vacant for many years and the cost to get them fixed was worth way more than the building ever would be. One on main street had been a thriving business until a vehicle ran into it. The owner took the insurance, kept the business going for a couple years then tried to sell it like it was in perfect shape. When it didn't sell he just let it sit and rot away and eventually let it go to the town for back taxes. So much history but you can't expect the town to pour money into things like that when there are far more pressing issues to deal with.

A nurse came by earlier today, at one point, ordered some of the bottom part of my two piece system!!!! I should get them soon!!

Mausey, we lost several lovely old homes in the center of town years ago. For whatever reason the owners sold off and the homes were replaced by ugly, modern bank buildings. Not what I would call progress but unless a place is labelled "historic" there is really nothing that can be done.

We got our Christmas tree and it is in the stand in the Living room but not decorated yet. After 69 years it finally occurred to me that I could wrap gifts/put under tree/fill stockings now and not wait until the last minute. So, I am doing that.

We got our daughter 2 of the 4 new all season tires for her car for Christmas (she paid for the other 2). They'll be on the car, not under the tree!

with low levels of medication that keeps my headaches down, and a very bad weather front, so I did not go to a blind outreach meeting, a friend and I are working on having that belated lunch at my place, good she called for I had lost her phone number for my cell, and to thoto those who have lost someone while I have been out of contact here is my work, all I ask is you may share it, just give me credit, with my real name on it, I feel that I can trust the lot of you here at Mom former NKT and PF to understand I am making no funds out of this its just my way to share my own lost, andhope to help others, PS I wanted to sh this with AmCs' Family with no way to contact them, but if you folks have a way please let me know, I shall get my PM box cleaned out just might take me twice as long to read and answer folks.

Part 2
The memories still fire up pain as you get to the next crossroad in life.
You feel the pain of one loss be they a person you knew or an animal friend!

You recall all of the great things you did. Or that special one did.
The amazing, funny or sometimes the odd thing they did.

You keep those memories close to you heart; for you know in a way they say go for it! I may be gone but my spirit is behind you in anything you do.

Also, know they are just a thought away!!! That's what I do when it comes to my best friend, Albert!!! If you lost your best friend, they are standing right by your side!!! I lost him when I was 30!! I grieved for him for 2 and a half years! I used to talk to him on the phone alot! When he was sick and dying, I visited him in the hospital much as I could! His illness could have been caught early if he'd gone to a doctor when he first got sick!! He had Wilson's disease! He died in the evening, that morning I asked my manager for time off to visit him and she told me "no". That would have been the last time seeing him!!! Before he got sick, we'd be talking on the phone and I'd sense his distraction, I'd ask "are you busy?" " yes m'am, I am" I loved it when he'd say that, but I never told him!! To this day, I regret not telling him! He died 10 days shy of turning 41!

Zen Hugs, I hope my own work helped, I lost my mom quite quickly to a brain canncer, and I have also lost a fewfriends to what I think is the same type, non grandmother passed away from brest cancer in both of them,, but she whas eldry and dad didn't want to stress out her at over 80 years young, and I alsothink after she fell, she stqarted seeing folks long dead ready to join them with God., LLost my uncle shortly before Christmas,if he took better care of him self he would be here, we think.
I hope they are all enjoying them self up their, I think of thembowling when its thundering out, With Gramdma K playing the music,, Gramma W-K Making hats out of the empantry washed beer can,. that the other are whatching the show. LLLoL It makes it easier for me duringing storms.

Sorry but I was LOL at the mental image of car tires under the tree,, as a Writing 101 Words idea, Starting with Tree, Presents, and Tires ! Eh! Ginny, sometimes when we give large gifts that won't fit under the tree (or in the case of tires, have already been installed) we will put a photo of a similar item in an envelope and hang it on the tree. A Giving Tree for sure!

Yes. I read one I think inGuidepost , and thanks for a idea that might take a bit of time to write, just for fun. have heard of a few of them,
right now I am just a tad irk, I understand that someone didn't run pass my worker, or anything, but a name pop up as a possable worker, but I think its a conflit of intrest, I knew the family and I don't want bad feeling but right now till llthe DOJ of myState, is done, I don't want trouble, she helped byshe I think maybe returned my missing money, when her mom wasn't spose to have contact with me,, so I didn't press charges but I awittness in this, and her not working in that ffield too, my and others trust is hazy at best. Made a trip to my favorite thrift store yesterday. I had nothing "fun" for my husband under the tree. I found a small (6 inch long by about 5 inch tall) baby duck made of pewter and brass. It can go with our collection of other small metal sculptures in the den beside the tv stand. This will remind us of the duck families we sometimes see on the pond when we take our daily walk.

Ginny, I remembered there is a "Giving Tree" book written by Shel Silverstein. It is a lovely and kind of sad story. Maybe you could have someone read it to you or find it on an audio book?

I like having something under the tree but as we get older there is less and less we need or even want. One of the boys got his gift already as he needed an area rug for under his computer. We were NOT going to keep a 6 by 9 foot carpet in the living room until Christmas. I did get 2 of the boys a gift card good for one hot shave at a local place. HHubby loves doing wooden models but we are completely out of room for any more of them so he may just get a box of his favourite chocolate bars.

I heard about that in a book review on PBS NewsHour SP, It was a good over view of it , the same one wrote Where the Sidewalk Ends, I think. I was thinking of folks leaving what they were wishing for on a tree, and folks wwould try and help, they would get a ribin on the trree, my mind or memory might be recalling it wrong, but the one was next to a small gift shop in a small town, and that is how they shared it.


I am trying to unstick a few puns or LOL that a friend has a parage of The Ship that Hugs, a short story idea, she is a fan of AMC. I showed her the other AMC books, She has some funny ideas, that my writing, wegood on, my ownis sometime not as zany as her,.

Well we are in for a lot of snow, here in the center of Wisconsin, down by my dad its more like a rain/icy mix, First Big Snow Storm of the season, We had some on his birthday , but not as much as they are talking about, wish I could see how things look, but thanks for twwhat the snow look s like.

Not sure what Fort Wayne's weather is going to look like in the next couple of days. I haven't been paying attention.

I did have some fun at work today I got to ring up Santa Claus. No, Really! Fort Wayne's official Santa came in to finish his purchases for the year before he starts visiting the kids at the local children's hospital. As well as the homeless shelters, foster care homes, the battered women's shelter, and wherever else he is needed to give kids a bit of Christmas.

We had our first ice storm of the season yesterday. Very slippery outside.


Our geothermal heat pump stopped working in the middle of the night, and we woke up to a cool house (it's currently 16 C/61 F in our living room, colder in the bedrooms). It's supposed to switch to direct electric heating if the pump fails, but for some reason it didn't. My husband's just gone out to buy some electric radiators. Oh well, at least it's only just below freezing at -0.5 C/31 F, rather than the -18 C/0 F and colder temps that we had earlier in the week.


When we built our house, we ran out of money and decided to skip installing a fireplace (the house is built to withstand the weight of one, and there's space reserved for it and a chimney). This is the first time I've regretted that decision!

But then you would have to be getting firewood either by buying it or cutting it yourself. Having firewood leads to another problem, various and sundry pests. It has to be stored out of the weather, and you don't want it up against your house, because of the vermin that will inevitably be attracted to it. At the least, insects, up to and including termites, but definitely ants and other crawlies that would love to eat on the dead wood and nest in it. Then there's mice, rats, and voles. They would nest in the wood stack and seek entry into your house if the wood is anywhere close to it.

Such are the joys of heating with wood, along with other things that I won't go into. I'll bet you already know about most or all of them, so I won't go there. I just thought I'd be a little ray of sunshine in your "bad decision". Gotta look on the bright side!

The Amazon center that was hit is in Edwardsville, IL, near St. Louis. I am in southeastern IL near the Kentucky border but all we got were really high winds and heavy rain.

Thanks! Lots of people have fireplaces, or even wood-heated saunas here, even in the suburbs, and the particle emissions can be quite bad, especially if there's a cold front with an inversion and the smoke doesn't go anywhere. Dry wood isn't a problem, but when people insist on burning damp wood or trash, that's when it gets unpleasant.



Now it's better, with the radiators installed. That said, unless we get the heat pump fixed soon, our electricity bill's going to be quite a bit more expensive than usual.

Well, at the house where I grew up, we had a carport where we would store some wood for the fireplace. We never had a problem with the wood!! No critters or bugs in the house!!!

found the cutest thing at Walmart. A cat bed shaped like a Christmas tree. I'm using it as our tree this year. I've got it tied to the dog crate, so it won't go outside. The kittens love it. It small for older cats. It's perfect

I just listen to ABC News, I hope everyone is safe, I know the feeling with what can happen if a pest cnibbles the heater tape that keeps our water ppipes from freazing, we had one and good thing, that the well was able to help keep the fire under control, once a hole in the PCP pipe that is, note I am not trying to wool-gathering up hereI am putting them in the right order, luck ly for us we had a woodstove, my dad built a mettle swalls to both protect and help the heat get around the place, make shu the resdue from buburning llogs, for that is one way to lose a home, If you can find somone with a sawmill, that has slabs the edgs of the ppine and selss them for fire wood, we have a local one, and have moved our wood yard around ,, to cut down on the bug problem,,burnt with other hard wood work s good, our , my dad using small bits from ttrees that he had fell with help from my kin, added paper , and cgrill starter, charkcoal that is. Bbad spelling day for me.


I think I have told yyou folks about loosimng myheat pupmpmore thepwater, and needing a new heat/cooling system, I also used a space heater dad let me use, before I knew the old one gave up.

Our heat is out, as is our washing machine. The wiring needs work. We have plenty of good safe space heaters. The floors in the kitchen are being replaced
It's never just one thing, it's a bunch hits all at once.

Oh mawra. Big hugs! That always seems to be the way. Will you hold off on replacing floors until the heat is repaired? Or maybe fix the washing machine if you can get by with space heaters for a while. We've had some oil filled space heaters in the past. They do a very good job. Look sort of like old fashioned radiators.

We have a gas generator in the garage as a back-up if the power goes out, It won't run the entire house but it will keep the furnace running as well as fridge, freezer and the stove as needed. The major appliances don't need full time power so we're set.

Our snow came in with a cold snap and wind so my morning walk was a bit chilly. Only 1F but the wind makes it feel worse. Next time I dig out the snowboard pants for the walk.

We also have a small gas generator in the garage that gets pulled out on the driveway when in use. It won't power the furnace but it will do a few lights, the microwave and the coffee maker. Some people install a whole house emergency generator that will power everything and switches over automatically. We don't lose power often enough.

That is very cold, Mausey! Brrr.

We're working on floors & electrical now. Thinking is the washing machine & electrical problems are connected.

Right we have a cat stuck somewhere. We hear him, but can't find him. It sounds like he might be in the eves. If so he should be able to get out. The open up in the attic. Poor thing, he sounds pathetic.
