The other day, I ordered some velvet, in gold, dark green, brown and blue (bronze is difficult to come by in velvet/velveteen) and plan to make some snugglable dragons/fire lizards. As I have already make cuddly Kaled mutants and two small felt dinosaurts, I know I can do it, thought without a pattern, I'll have to base the head at least on the head of my commercial plush velociraptor and mainly guess the rest. I used to know someone who made two, so I know it can be done, I just want to make some for me and a friend, the one who introduced me to Anne's books.
I'll keep you updated on this... ![]() Dannette EDIT: Just realised this should probably be in the Exhibit Hall...can someone shift it there for me? Sorry! Last edited by Dannette; May 6 2012 at 05:24 AM. |

Sounds cool. I made a plush gremlins for my sister during my High School sewing class and she still has it. Got a teddy bear pattern and a bunch of brown fur at about the same time but never made them. Maybe some day.
Are you going to be selling them or just making them for yourself? |

For bronze, have you tried the rather dirty colour they call 'old gold'?
If you then used a light brassy gold for contrast ....

I've got some velvet in four colours, and yes, I think I'll have to buy several shades of gold and choose one of them as bronze - thanks for your colour suggestion, P'ter.
Tamara - I will just be making a couple for myself and the aforementioned friend. Plus a white one for a very good friend who fell in love with Ruth when she found out about him, as she says they both share being unusual by others, as well as sharing a name. If I don't plan to sell them, though if the circumstance arrives where I do, they'd not be advertised as "Pern Dragons", just "dragons". Now, all I need is cottons (I can get those from John Lewis) and TIME... Dannette |

There's also Fabric Land - although they don't have a vast number of shops around the UK
