Default Computer of your Dreams...

If you had the chance to buy your dream computer what would it be? Turbo charged Dell? IBM? Mac? Something else perhaps?? I'm just courious.

Me I'd get the most turbo charged Mac money could buy but since I don't have the money I'll stick with my lil' 2 year old PowerBook G4.

I don't care overly, as long as it's a PC not a Mac (forgot all the little annoying differences between the two until this vacation I'm on - I'm using a Mac right now and boy is the user interface and mouse irritating me!). It'd end up being a Dell though as that's what my husband likes to buy and he can get nice discounts through work on them.

Of course it should be wicked fast and have tons of RAM and dual flatscreen monitors as large as the come.

I don't care what my ideal computer is, so long as it's fast, has lots of memory for all my work, and has Linux.

I put any sort, although what I really want is a laptop joined to my Broadband connection via wireless so I can take it about the house with me and play with my net stuff wherever I am!

So long as it works fast, I don't care!

Never used a Mac though, so probably PC.

I also don't care, as long as it's reasonably good, fast, and I know how to use it. (Meaning not a Mac. )

An IBM ThinkPad. However, I don't have that kind of money. No more Dell laptops, though, especially now that every time I call tech support I get New Dehli. And I have to call tech support a LOT.

I'd get the one that could do my laundry and clean my house for me.

Whaddya mean that doesn't exist!

In that case, any PC will do - brand doesn't matter, as long as it has lots of memory and is fast.

I'll stick with Sony all the way, had nothing but good experiences with them

Only "full-size" PC I ever had was back in the late eighties/very early nineties when a 20 MB hard disk was sufficient to run two word processing programmes, a database, and a spreadsheet

Since then I've had laptops, and Sony is in my experience the best Not necessarily the cheapest, but then you get what you pay for... And since I bought my current one at half-price on e-bay, it proves that bargains can be found

But if I were to have a dream PC, I guess I'd opt for a Sony Vaio desktop, with a 21 inch screen minimum As long as it was fast and linked to a broadband internet connection, that is...

I already have my dream computer - a Mac G5 2.5 GHz dual processor. It does just everything I want/need, and does it F-A-S-T. Especially those processor-intensive Photoshop jobs.

I'm with Hans; I'm saving hard for a decent monitor. I cannot justify the two grand for the 30" but I'm about six weeks aways from affording the 23 inch Cinema display.

See here for comparison - it's TINY
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObje....5.1.3.0.0.1.0

So much less desk space than a 19" Samsung Syncmaster (off-topic - just WHAT goes into a monitor that makes it tip the scales at 55lbs/21kg?)

Anything that's fast and works, and does what I want to. I'm quite happy with my current HP, in spite of the bad luck with the hard drive which failed after 18 months. Especially now that my friend doubled the RAM... for free! All I had to pay for was for the OEM windows reinstall CDs. It runs everything I want to, as I'm not into graphics-intensive games.
