Cool Total lunar eclipse tonight

There is going to be a total lunar eclipse tonight, nicely coinciding with the solstice!

It'll be partly visible in Europe and Australia, and the completely visible from start to finish in the North America.

Good map and timing details here.

If I get a chance to have a look tonight, I'll do so. My camera isn't as good as Hans so if we're able to capture photos, it'll be pretty ordinary compared to others.

I don't think I'll be able to see it at all here. Our skies are covered in gray clouds.

Wish we could go out and have a look...but were in the midst of one of our rare but drenching rain storms...all our flood chanels are full and we now have this lovely stream going by us... just a few yards over our back wall on the golf course.

I really hope one of you photo bugs get a good shot of it...I would really love to see what it looks like!

I missed it. When I remembered, it was just a plain full moon.

I missed it as well. Came home from a meeting at 9 pm, watched a little tv and then went to bed early without any further thought of it. Oh well, I've seen others, and I'm sure some good pics of this one will turn up online.

I looked but it was snowing so no moon to be seen. Next time better.

I hope someone saw it.

Coudln't get a good view anywhere. Either the across-the-street neighbors' lights were too bright or the house next door blocked the window. And I sure wasn't going out into the attached garage to see if I could see anything through the garage door windows.

I saw the beautiful full moon at about 10pm before I went to bed. Then I got up a few times during the night to try and see it, but it was too cloudy and snowy! I've seen them before, but this was the first on the winter solstice in 400 years!

I didn't see it, nor know if I could have. My mum remembered it some time last night, but she couldn't see anything from the trees by our flat, and I sure wasn't planing to go out just for that. But I still wish I could have seen it, as I have never had the chance before. Oh, well, there will be others.

I saw it and it was great! It really DID turn orangey-red, and that was what I stayed up to see. I could see it through the rafters over my teeny little atrium to our duplex. I have not looked for many sky events like this, but was very glad I got to see this one.
