Default Home again

I'm just back from a family trip -- another lovely stay in a beach house, this time on the opposite coast in Maine. My father's family got together for the first full gathering in 30 years, and it was wonderful!

Pictures will come, but I'm not sure when as life continues busy for a while. My parents returned with us, and are here for several days. Hans and his wife arrive for a visit (Hans's first time to come see my home!) the day they leave and be here a while. Then I'll have a break of a couple weeks before another international visitor comes.

Good luck with it all Cheryl and have fun but don't stress too much. Hope to see pics and stories when you're ready to "show & tell".

Glad to hear that you were able to get away and have some fun extended family time...especially with your parents. A stay at home with you, will give your folks some extra time with their very cute Grandchildren.

As for your other visitors...I hope you all have a ball. Are you taking them into Boston for a tour of the sights?

I can hardly wait for *ALL* the new photos...hopefully some new ones of YOU and maybe the kids together.

Another INTERNATIONAL visitor??? Anyone we know???

Looks like both our *Falls* are going to be full of fun and of friends...

Out of curiosity, where in Maine was your gathering?

I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself, but I'm guessing you got caught up in the heat wave. That was not normal Maine weather last week, and I think just about everyone was miserable. I'm so glad that the weather has gotten back to normal end of August and beginning of September weather.

Yes, someone you know Maelin.

R, we were in Ellsworth. It was fairly hot the first day, but then the remains of Earl rolled through (and nicely cleared out before the day's festivities were to get in swing), which cooled things down.

That's pretty close to where I am. It's just under an hour to drive from Bangor to Ellsworth. There's a very nice theater in Ellsworth that I've seen a couple of shows at. Most of the time though, we pass through there to get to Bar Harbor.

Did you get a chance during your gathering to take a trip down to MDI (Mount Desert Island) and visit Acadia National Park? Acadia is one of my favorite places in the state.

No, we were there such a brief time (Fri afternoon to Sun mid-morning) and there were activities planned for almost all of it. The only time we would have had available, Sat morning, it was raining.

Hans and Marjon made it hear safely last night, and valiantly stayed up until 10 pm -- which felt like 4 am to them!

That's too bad, but I'm glad you had a good time in Maine.

Someday, you'll have to come back and make a trek to Acadia. I've always found the park to be at its best during the autumn with all the colorful leaves.
