Default Dragonflight movie trailer

That got your attention, didn't it?

Unfortunately it is a fake but this guy is really good How it initially escpaed my attention I don't know because it seems to have been on YouTube for a few months already... Not all things are exact Pernese but let's not nitpick this nice effort since it isn't real anyway

So, turn up the volume on your computer and enjoy!

Hans your just finding it??? LOL Sorry it has been on there for about a year. I thought everyone here knew or had heard about it that I didn't say anything about it. Did you listen to the Question Song done by awehyt it is truly haunting to here set to music and the video is good too.

R'na, it says it is added to YouTube in July 2008, that makes it 4 months. As far as I know it hasn't been posted about here nor on AMCF.

As for the question song, I personally haven't heard a better version than the one "our own" Brenda has posted on YouTube.

The trailer was pretty good.

I didn't like the Question Song --- the tune was monotonous, and the singing not that good. I prefer Tanya Opland's version, though the dissonance described in Dragonflight is missing.

That was lovely to see Hans, even though it didn't want to play for me very well.

Most of the footage looks like it was borrowed from the video game called *Lair*[hope I got that name right]. I saw the game advertised in the stores, with short clips last year...I recognise the helmet and dragons heads and flying style, that were used in this movie trailer. The game video was fantastic and made me really wish I was a game player. I almost bought it just so I could watch the game trailer whenever I wanted...sad I know, but I really did want to see it all.

Eriflor, that Tania and Mike's version is nowhere near haunting is my objection to it although I very much like the CD and even the Question Song as a song, it just doesn't answer to my idea of it.

I've heard about this game, and from what i know it was terrible. When i first saw the videos I wanted to get it, but controls and other stuff apparently messed it up.

I actually have the game that this trailer is based on, so the effect of the trailer is kind of lessened on me. But the game is very enjoyable (I've heard a lot of complaints, especially about the motion controls, but while irksome at times, not that bad).

I don't know what the game is about...but in the lead in movie parts that I got to see...it appears that part of it is one dragonrider trying to kill another dragonriders dragon. When I saw that part I acually yelled in the store..."OH LORD...you can't do that!!!" When I heard a few chuckles around me...I realized that I had said it outloud. One young man yelled back at me..."Say lady, thats the best part of the game"...Martin hustled me away quickly before I took that evil child to task...the very thought of a game where you kill dragons is unthinkable....AAARRRGGGGHHH!! !!

P.S. I would still like to see the whole thing, as the flying is magnificent....

I just saw the trailer!! Simply amazing!! It’s making me wish for the real thing, but I’d much rather that the Pern movie be done right than quickly. (Though I should clarify… within the next 2-3 years would be preferable, )

Fun to watch and see someone's interpretation.

I do remember seeing it before, I can't say how long ago, but long enough that I'd rather forgotten about it.

I haven't gotten far, but as far as I can remember, there are two nations at war, and you ride dragons to fight each others' armies, be it dragons and their riders, soldiers on foot (ripping swaths through their ranks, through devouring - yes, you can actually eat the soldiers - stomping, tail-swiping, or fire-breathing is VERY fun), and other various monsters. I haven't gotten more than a few levels in though, so I don't know the overall story. The graphics and animation is excellent for the cut-scenes, though. But as Maelin feared, yes, you do kill the opposing army's dragons.

There are also training areas that aren't part of the actual game which are actually the most fun, to me. Flight training is the best, where you can use the motion controls to fly your dragon through a coarse of giant floating rings as fast as you can.

Hans, I really liked the trailer *wishing it was a real trailer and I could see the movie*

I might have asked before, but if so I will ask again

Has any of Anne's books been made into a movie?

Well, my son has a PS3 so if you give me the exact name of the game, I might actually get to play it

(when I search for Dragonflight, I only get Eragon )

We all get that feeling I think, Asna But nonetheless it is fun to watch.

Nina, no, nothing by Anne made it to either big nor small (TV) screen.
As for the name of the game, it's as Jube said: Lair. It's about a year old and a Wikipedia article on it is available here.

Even though they are expensive, they are well worth the money since it not only plays top=notch video games, but also has a Blu Ray (high definition DVD) player built into it, which would go for about $300-400 on its own. So you get twice the value for your money if you get a PS3

But you certainly won't get far in the game if you can't kill a dragon, it's essential to the progress of the game! Just don't think of them as Pern dragons

Hello Asna....and welcome to MoM. This is the first time I have seen one of your post...and its a very funny one...as that is what I also thought when I saw the movie trailer. It would also be a very, very cold flying suit...brrrrrrrr

Nina...oh girl don't I wish.... thats why we are all going nuts for this fake one...we are all so eager to see a Pern movie.

Spiffy...oh to have the skills to play the games...then I might consider paying that much for a PS3...but I already don't have much spare time...and if I learned to play those games I would never get anything done...arrrggghh!!!

I'm going to have to disagree with you about the "top-notch games", but its a fair point that when Blu-ray replaces DVD like DVD did to video, it will be the best value option, as most blu-ray players are over £1000. But back to the games thing, tell me one good PS3 game (apart from little big planet), which isn't just a port from the 360?

Thank you for the name of the game LAIR.

I asked my son if he would let me play his PS3 if I bought the game, and he agreed if he could play it too Of course, I would not have expected him to back out of an opportunity to play a new game Besides he likes dragons as well - his favourite Anne book is Dragonsong where Menolly impresses her firelizards. I had to read it to him four times and then he has read it himself after having the book signed by Anne at Eurocon.

I do wish that someone would make a movie of at least one of Anne's books. Perhaps besides Pern, the Freedom series would make an impressive and contemporary film for young people as well.

If you guys want a great dragonriders game, get either Drakan: Order of the Flame or Drakan 2: The Ancients' Gates. They're both playable on PS2, I think (well, Drakan may only be playable on the PC -- you'd have to check, as I'm too lazy), and they're both appealing to the sensibilities of we Pern fans. ;>

The story takes place on the planet Drakan (I know, genius, right?), which was once ruled by a coalition of dragonriders who kept order and peace in the world. The riders, natch, are bonded to their dragons in a magic soul-binding ceremony -- when one dies, the other does, etc. But one dude went all crazy-evil, and split off with a bunch of other riders to wreak havoc on the land and make life hard for the good guys. War broke out, etc., and the crazy-evil dude used some seriously bad magic to physically meld himself with his dragon, turning him into a more or less unstoppable killing machine. Of course, the leader of the good riders destroyed his body -- but not his soul, ala Sauron of LotR -- and afterward the surviving dragons were so tired, they went into hibernation and that was that for the riders of Drakan.

A few centuries later, the evil dude starts the process of resurrecting, and goons and bad juju start popping up all over the planet. A bunch of them attack a village and kidnap the little brother of Our Hero, Rynn, heretofore your average farmgirl. Obviously, she sets off on a quest to rescue her brother, and in the process learns that dragonriders were not, in fact, a myth, and even manages to find, and bond with, big daddy Arokh, the dragon whose rider killed the bad guy the first time around.

So you play as Rynn -- by yourself, for the first half of Drakan, until you discover Arokh -- and then you can play as just Rynn or Rynn-aboard-Arokh, which is a HELL of a lot of fun. Drakan 2 is pretty much all Rynn-and-Arokh, barring underground caverns or other places Arokh physically can't go. Arokh himself is rather droll and pithy, and Rynn's a really great badass heroine with all kinds of cool weapons and armor.

(I went as her to Dragon*Con 2004. I even won a prize at Weyrfest -- with Lessa and Damia. Sweet. ;> )

And, yeah. They're cool games. Y'all should play them and what not.
