Default 365-Day photo project

I've thought before about doing a 365-day photo project, wherein you take one picture a day for a full year. I never had the right kick-in-the-pants to actually get started on it until now. The photobook company I love, Picaboo, is sponsoring a 365 project through their Facebook fan page, and I'm quite excited to join in.

I was wondering if there'd be anyone here that be interested in doing a 365 project as well, here on MoM (though you could join the Picaboo one as well, if you're interested and on Facebook). I would set up a separate forum for it, and each participant would start a thread to post their photos to. I would also allow for uploading the pictures to MoM directly, to make it easier (though you can still host them elsewhere if you prefer).

You wouldn't necessarily have to upload your daily photo every day -- I'm not sure I'll bother downloading from my camera daily, but perhaps once a week or whatever rate works for you. The key is that you take one picture every day (though if you forget, just double up the next day) specifically for the project (obviously you can take more pictures for other reasons).

Because I'm crazy I'm planning on actually doing two pictures a day, one that will be a random/general picture and one that will fit a botanical theme. At the end of it all, I'll probably make a photobook of each.

I'm planning to start tomorrow so that my pics go for a full calendar year (and it'll end up being a 366 day project as it's a leap year), but that's certainly not necessary - you can jump in anytime.

So, does anyone want to join me?

Thre's many of those on flickr. I'm interested but it is HARD to make a photo every day when you have a regular job and are very busy... thinking on it.

I plan to take a lot of photos of my daughter in her first year to be able to follow her grow, but it's not exactly the same as a 365 day photo project. I think it sound like fun though and I would love to see your photos. I guess you will be able to depict the seasons changing and such if you have a botanical theme.
Good luck.

Sounds like fun. Just don't know what I'd take pictures of...

The object is usually to document your life. So no theme but that. Subjects could be anything; what you did, what you saw, family, anything. But done right it is quite a commitment for which I am not ready I think.

I'm going to use it as an opportunity to learn more about the technicalities of our cameras, and to try and improve my photos as well as just taking fun shots to document my life.

Cool, I'm glad to see there some others interested - I'm finding this is more fun as a social project though I'd enjoy it on my own anyhow.

I've looked into allowing attachments and found that rather than being a forum by forum thing, they're either on or off for the whole board. I'm greatly disappointed by this, and not thrilled about opening it up forum-wide.

How do those that are interested feel about either uploading elsewhere like photobucket for posting here, or emailing me the photos and I'll load them directly to the site?

I saw a TV programme a while back where a shop owner took a picture of the same scene (the street outside his shop) every day. The resulting pictures helped solve a murder! (of course)

So - a pic of the same scene at the same time each day could be interesting?

I've got mine on photobucket. Looks like my theme so far is the boys and vaguely abstracty attempts at something artistic.

Alright then we'll go ahead with folks hosting the pictures themselves. Rather than creating a new forum, we're going to take over the Thematic Photography forum which is sitting idle at the moment. I'll post something informational there about it later today. Meanwhile whenever you're ready to start your own thread with your pictures there, go ahead.

Kath - I like what you've taken so far!
