Default Questions about Anne McCaffrey: A Critical Companion

I hope I posted this in the correct place!

I was thinking about buying a copy of Anne McCaffrey: A Critical Companion by Robin Roberts. Is it informative and interesting? Is it well written and easy to follow? Should I look for a brand new copy or would a cheaper used copy be fine since I'll only read it once or twice? Is it worth the 46.95$ USD?

Thoughts anyone?

I found it to be very interesting and informative, well-written and easy to follow. It's written by a college professor, but it's meant to be read by fans not by other professors in the field.

The price (which is for a new copy) sounds pretty high, but it really depends on your interest level. Really no one but you can answer if the book is worth that much to you. That said, unless you really want a perfectly pristine copy, I'd probably buy used which will cost perhaps half that. Because this is a book that isn't going to be read over and over, used copies should be in very good shape, near enough to brand new in many cases.

I second what Cheryl has said with the provision that, if you are looking for a biography, Robin Roberts' second book "Anne McCaffrey. A Life with Dragons" is the better read (and much cheaper too).

Nonetheless, I wouldn't have paid $47 + postage for "Companion" despite its quality. I hunted (with Cheryl's help) and think I paid about half that for a used copy, which was fine by me.

I think I paid around $15 for my copy. That price is terrible high.

Yes, I think its high too, that's the non-sale price at Barnes and Noble. I'm going to look for a good used copy online. Thank you for all of your imputs! It helped. I enjoyed reading A Life With Dragons so I thought the companion would be a good read too.

Dragonbuddy...I do hope that you can find a copy, at a reasonable price and that when you do recive it, you really do enjoy it reading it. Getting to read all about Anne herself, instead of just one of her wonderful characters is a real treat.
