Ladies Steampunk Gypsy Boho Boots http://goo.gl/FgdRp0 This look like a very neat way, to store stuff.
But I wonder if some like this would be like a Master Boot, we read about the boots that Menolly wore, jouneyfolks, we read about the heavy boots that Holders and Crafter were in Runner of Pern. Soft running shoes, and winter type, also.

I think those rivets could cause you a problem if you stood near to a campfire.

Nah, not any worse than the leather itself. I wear period footwear at work and your feet do get hot, but like most natural materials* it would take a while for it to actually burn and unless the rivets go clear through and touch your skin, you won't notice (I doubt they'd be so cheap they'd melt.) Now, I wouldn't put anything flammable in the pouches...
*I get tired of and have a rote answer to questions about my hems, etc, catching. I wear linen, some cotton, and now it's getting cold a wool cape. I would have to hold the linen and cotton in the fire a good long time for it to ignite, and the wool can be used to SMOTHER a hearth fire if I have to. I'm in more danger if I'm in street clothes--modern fabrics can melt and stick like napalm. The worst likely to happen to my shoes is the leather will crack from too much heat, and GOOD THEN THEY CAN BUY ME NEW SHOES. The two of us who dress 18th century HATE our shoes. Clunky men's things too big for us and that don't stay tied. |

Michigan's Heritage Park at Hilt's Landing (we're part of the Lakeshore Museum in Muskegon--well, we're in Whitehall, the main museum is in Muskegon.) I'm primary on the fur trade and cover the wigwam village and settler's cabin, too (not in costume for the wigwam, though! Jackie, the lead, does sometimes, but she's Chippewa so it's not so inappropriate if she does. It's been too cold for her regalia lately, though!) It's fun being the first year open, since we get to break in all the stuff. (Everyone wanted to move into the settler's cabin. Most of us still do, if only because the visitor center does have a bathroom and isn't THAT far away. I draw the line at period-appropriate toilet facilities...)
