Aussiecon4 was my first con where I met KC, Kesal and Flinx for the first time I saw Flinx at Armageddon this year and he says hi, even though he doesn't come on here much but then again, I haven't been on in ages. Ooops.

Hi all. Belated christmas greetings to you all and a happy new year for 2013.

This is the first time I've been on the boards for ages - sorry, sorry, RL is horrendously busy - but I would LOVE to try to make it to London next year! It's no special anniversary for me (that would be THIS year - I'm turning 50 in December ) but Loncon would be four days after my husband's 50th! Maybe I could persuade him to come as well ....

It would be wonderful to see KC again and meet more MoM friends in person!

WE WILL BE THERE!

Jez has confirmed that his school holiday dates don't end until after that weekend - usually he'd already be back at work. So, I will *definitely* be going and I'll be bringing all my boys!

It would be great to meet up with everyone again. I still remember the great time we all had at the EuroCON in 2007. My last WorldCON was in 2005, but there was only me, Lanen and KC from MoM attending that one. At the 2005 CON Anne gave Elizabeth and me her attendance ticket to the Hugo award dinner. That was amazing - an example of Anne's kindness and generosity. Such a pity she won't be there this time.
But it would be great to see everyone from MoM again.

That sounds great Lanen and Steven and Anneli! This could turn out a real nice weekend providing we will be able to get decent but affordable lodging.

Interesting. Never been to anything like that before at all, but have wanted to! With a bit of luck I should settled down within a reasonable distance of London by then so should be pretty easily doable.

Should be an interesting event I think and definitely something I'll be looking forward to.

I have absolutely no idea where I'll be at that time. But I would like to come and meet all of you. My classes usually don't start until October, so I think I might try and organize myself. But I still have time for that.

It would be so much fun to go! My Hubby and I will be celebrating our 10 year Wedding Anniversary then, maybe I should suggest a London Worldcon trip!!!! After the Con there is still so much to see and do in London, I could make it a week trip!!!!

Just letting everyone know again that I am definitely going.

I bought my membership some time ago and now have had my annual leave authorised for the 2 weeks including the World Con weekend. There's even enough time to take a trip to Dublin for EuroCon the following weekend

Just need to organise hotels etc. now.

Hotel Bookings are now open - have been since New Year.

Having thought about where I wanted to stay now find it's booked!

So second choice - more expensive but I know it'll be nice.

Ok, I know it's early, but since the hotel bookings are already open, I would like to ask all of you who are from London or have stayed there, about hotels, restaurants, and such for staying in during Worldcon. Can you recomened something, annd what to keep an eye on?

so, any thoughts as to where we should gather? I don't live in London any more (thank the double moons), so I'm as constrained as everyone else by the commercial options and prices... That said, I'd still be happy to make the trip down South for a genuine MOM Gather if that remains a realistic possibility?

I've just bought a new car; we're celebrating 35 year anniversary this year and I invited my son and his girlfriend to spend a week with us in Venice and north Italian lakes in May and on top of that we might eb on holiday...

I know already that I can't make it, though I wish I could! Medical expenses plus orthodontia for my elder kids have wiped out the travel budget for the year. And any time I can scare up sans my kids really needs to be spent helping out my father, who's health is declining and who lives 800 miles away.

I hope those that make it have a fantastic time - I've enjoyed every WorldCon I've made it too in the past (hmm, all two of them?).

And Hans - those sound like fantastic travel plans. As always I will enjoy the pics on your flickr stream.

Sorry, folks, I'm afraid we're surrendering too. The con is about the same price as other worldcon registrations, but oh, staying in London! We too are planning a number of trips this year, and that's just one too many. It's a shame, but that's just how it has worked out this time. Sorry, me dears. We'll just have to meet another time.

I fear I'm another WorldCon Renegade I confess I had second and then third thoughts when I saw the inflated costs for Membership and a hotel room, nevertheless I still hoped it might be an option But - with apologies to KC and Kath - the absence of my Pernese "Best Friends" means it's no longer even that

Please give my best wishes to Todd and Jody though, and I hope those who make it have a wonderful time

Damn, I would have loved to meet up with you guys in person, as well as everyone else who initially showed an interest. Nothing like making new friends in a fandom (I don't think on-line interactions can ever really substitute, so much tone and warmth and meaning gets lost between words), but I guess Pern's days for that are long past now.

KC, looks like it's just us two Kaths now!
