Default Anne's Newest Reader!

My Mom is FINALLY going to read the Pern books! I couldn't get her to even look at them, but her best friend is an avid Pernist, and just bought Mom The Doliphins of Pern, MasterHarper of Pern and Dragons Eye.... but I have told her to actually dig out mine, and read the entire series.

Wonderful! And good idea! Don't let her start with Dolphins or MasterHarper, it might put her off the series Dragonseye is possible as start but I would always have a new reader start with Dragonflight!

We finally got my mom to read the books a few years ago. She was the last holdout in the family.

Actually, I told her to start with DRAGONSDAWN. My mother, like me, has a linear logical mind when it comes to reading.

That one is a good start too, I think. She will get the whole scope of the stories that way. Good reading to your Mother, maybe if she likes them she will come on here and talk to us about them!

I WILL read them to my brother, or maybe just give them to him to read...
When he's older, and CAN read (properly)
It's just that he's 6 right now, and they're not really appropriate for 6 year olds are they?

(I must be really tired, this is the 4th time I have had to edit one of my posts)

I have manaed to start a few friends off on reading Pern. One read them in there chronilogical order, the other in the order they were published. Both enjoyed them, and no badger me as to when the next one is out, so either order works

Personally I like the chronilogical order myself, but that's just how my brain works

He shouldn't have too much of a problem with the Harper Hall trilogy, I should reckon. Depends upon how well he can read now. (I was reading adult books before I was nine.)

I read the hobbit age 8. I remember that cos it was when I was in yr 3 and they had finally worked out what was wrong with me!

I know that I had read various Agatha Christies and some of Margery Allingham's books by the time I went to high school as I remember writing a book review of one!

It's true, Myt, we are all that hairy. Thing is, most of our hair is extremely short and light, so we just don't see it. It's more short fuzz or fluff than thick and luxurious. Only occasionally does it really grow, and in varying degrees on males.

I'm happy to be hairy, because that is how I was meant to be, from my genes, rather than anything kooky like a god, or somesuch stuff.

Because of my complaints when cleaning the tub before giving my kids a bath, they now both say "Uncle is a hairy man" any time they go into the bathroom!

Ghyle, I like the part where Edi suggest that you are as hairy on the inside as well as out.
You have so much going on in that brain of yours that it must be like hair all tangled up in there.(he he he)
