Yay for flooding waters, we'll be at the river, swimming, bitten by mozzies and having fun before too long.

I recycled the leg of an old pair of jeans to take the vacuum-cleaner's tools.

Old jeans are wonderful things. Years ago I made a clothes-pin bag out of some old jeans. I sewed up the legs but didn't cut them off. The dangly legs made a handy handle to slide the thing along the line with. I also made my daughter a handbag out of an old pair of jeans when she was a teenager. (I got rid of the legs on that one!) And if you have enough pairs and enough patience, you can make a sturdy warm quilt. On another nostalgic trip, if you have a kid with an outgrown T-shirt they can't bear to part with you can sew them up, stuff them and they become throw (or cuddle) pillows.

Remind me why I'm spring cleaning or now summer cleaning...feeling rather frustrated that a can of coke was left on the floor for my foot to discover whilst doing a patch of stuff that had fallen off the bookcase. Thankfully only an old "bill" and the floor became wet and a short yell to the darling child who came to help with a towel. Yay for a great kid and the door can be closed now. Made quite an inroad into the room over the last few days and my "recycle bin" that the council picks up fortnightly was able to go out full yesterday. The compost heap got some too - the shredded stuff anyway. Might even be able to fit a single bed in there shortly

Just make sure no pets are stuck inside, we had that happen with a few spots.

Well it's been quite awhile since I've posted here. We've started to make really good inroads into cleaning up said room over xmas, posted off the contents of several boxes courtesy of ebay and that the darling child wants to go to jamboree so he's saved up half of the deposit for that so far as a result. Planning to hold another garage sale soon and an op shop (similiar to thrift shops in America) trip or 2 after that. Handy that my mum's birthday is coming up soon so instead of taking it locally, it'll be a drop off at one of the op shops in Melbourne in lieu there of - for some reason because we do the markets and currently in the process of doing Relay for Life, we've been donated quite a few boxes of items - I don't need anymore items folks, got enough junk around here as it is. Aggravating, 'tis BUT I did find one or two items that I wanted out of the boxes so the donation tin got a fill up and ..... well, you probably get the picture. Okay, I will attempt to put pictorial viewpoints up but it'll have to wait until March so I've got a chance to clean up a little more.

I made a New Year's Resolution that I had to actually read all my books before I could check out any from the library! I have a whole shelf of books I've picked up here and there - often from the library's sale table - which caught my eye but I never actually read them.

Most have been pretty good so far, although I was really disappointed when one I really liked turned out to have a cliffhanger ending and "look for the sequel!"
