Road leaving the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park. The dark clouds were a snowstorm.

Road going up into the canyon in the mountains north of my house

I have lots of photographs of roads leading to interesting places, but I finally narrowed it down to these two:

This is not an original idea, since the Eagles used this view on their "Best of the Eagles" album cover, but I love this road. It's state route 163 in Utah driving south towards Monument Valley.

This is the view you get while driving along the A85 in Scotland, passing the Old Mill at Luib and approaching Ben More (watch out for the speed camera).

I have lots of other pictures, which I'll post in the normal thread.

My first photo is quite recent. It dates from the first of May of this year when my wife and I visited my good friend Anneli and made an outing to the Cotswold (western England). I loved the solitary tree and the threathening clouds...

Right, the next one is taken near the village of Zakros on the far eastern end of the Greek island of Crete. Do NOT forget to take the turn here of you end up in the ravine. Fortunately they put one of the rare lights just at this corner It isn't a spectacular picture but I loved this view because it seemed you were driving right into the clouds.

I really like Blondmom's first pic. And Hans' first pic.

I especially like Steven's first one because it holds many personal memories and Pam's second one.

I like AnnMarie's one because it stands out from all the pictures posted

All these pics are great - crystal clear, colorful, and interesting looking places. I love the aqua sky in Steven's 2nd picture.

Ahh!! Too many places to visit and not enough money to visit them all.

I like photographs of a road that show it leading somewhere, which is why I chose those particular two pictures to post. I like Pam's pictures for that same reason. However, AnneMarie's snow, Blondmom's bridge, Han's tree and P'ter's ruin all show you can make a really good photograph by featuring something interesting on the road. My favourite is Han's tree. It reminds me of the "Touchstone Pictures" logo - all you need is the lightning strike.

Maybe I'm remembering the wrong film company? It's the logo you sometimes get at the beginning of a film where you're driving along a road, a tree appears and it gets struck by lightning.

Ah... didn't know that. I googled and found what you mean under Jerry Bruckheimer Foils (which seems to be associated with Touchstone)

Yes, that's the one. Thanks for finding it. Your photograph is almost the mirror image of the end of that sequence.
