Now that would cause mayhem and confusion! I like the way you think!

I had a physical today and because it's been a long time I also got a tetanus shot. Oh, what fun! Also made appointments for a couple other tests (bone density is one of them). I said to the doctor I don't have time to work if this is what I'm going to be doing the next month or so.

On another forum I frequent, we can change our own names if we want. Occasionally someone will change their name, but we soon know who it is. lol, at Christmas many of us change our names to Christmas names, usually including whatever our usual name is. I'm Nightsky on that forum, so at Christmas, I usually change to "Twas the Nightsky before....

Kugai, it has been quite a while and since I haven't seen a "he's back" post from you I am guessing that poor Garfield has not returned? I can only hope that someone has taken him in who had no idea that he was lost and loved and that he is safe. I am sorry!

We could change names by registering again but that is sometimes frowned on.

Not much going on today. I am currently needlepointing a Kiddush cup bag as a Hannukah gift for friends. It uses a stitch I have not tried before so we'll see how that goes. If I don't like how that looks I'll go back to the stitch I'm used to.

I think that would be very hard.

We had our fly-in/drive in over the weekend and we sold out on the pig and beef, I was thinking of the story about Red and the other times they were roasting meat on Pern

Dan J my other half and I have been together from 1999 to 2013

Some of us are 'strange' already!

I had a friend at school called John Strange. He was a year below me but looked sufficiently like me that staff used to mix us up. One day Mr Riddell (English Teacher) went up to John and asked "are you Vessey?" "No, Sir, I'm Strange." "I know that but are you Vessey?"

A few weeks ago we found out Kibby was not getting Social Security from Hubby's disability benefits. She was suppose to be getting 80 dollars a month. We got a check for the entire amount she did not get. It was enough to get her a new computer & some clothes with enough left over to take a trip. We are at Kure Beach N.C. we came up to day and will leave Friday. Tomorrow we are going to go to the N.C. aquarium.

The weather is on the cool side & the ocean looks VERY rough so I don't think we will be going swimming. Tonight Kibby went to a SMALL carnival and rode a bunch of rides. She is
taking lots of pics.

We talked to a local photographer a couple of weeks ago and he showed her how to change the shutter speed & aperture on the digital camera. He also told her to return in a month or so and he would let her help him with some projects and may take her on as an intern. She has learned how to turn her role of film into negatives. She will be developing next class I think. She seems to enjoy her class.

There was a huge snapping turtle on the back lawn this morning. We have a 3-season pond at the bottom of the yard and it comes from there. I saw it two years ago but I wasn't sure it was still around. I'm pretty sure it's the reason we no longer have muskrats in that pond. Their babies would make a tasty meal for this monster. It is about a foot and a half from front to back of the shell and the head is almost as big as my fist! Not something to mess with. I took pictures and I'll post one as soon as I get around to loading them into the computer.

I don't like snappers. If I found him in my pond, he'd catch a bullet in the head.

But that's just me.

Here's what I've been up to with the jewelry:

Glass pendant with beads. I thought about adding more beadwork to it. The necklace weave is called RSD, which stands for "Rhinos Snorting Drano".

Tree of Life pendant with rough citrine stones. Necklace is a basic 1 by 2 weave; 1 large silver ring with 2 small gold rings.

Another 1 by 2 weave necklace, this one in all silver. Pendant is black & white glass.

Red & blue, European 4 in 1 weave bracelet. I even made these rings myself.

Some other commercially made pendants waiting for necklaces. The top one is glass, the others are agate.

Four stones I'm going to wire wrap for pendants. Left to right, A genuine rough ruby, about 23.9 carats, rutilated quartz, amethyst color, heart-shaped, and two pieces of solar quartz.

At the top of the picture, 4 simple wire rings.

Four "slightly" more complex wire rings.

That's what I've completed recently.

Gorgeous!

Well, the pond is not on our land and the turtle wasn't bothering anything. In the fairly closely built up neighborhood where we live (about one acre lots) I'm not sure how good an idea it would be to shoot anything in your yard. We don't own any guns so not an option. I could see someone in your area with a lot of land not wanting the thing around, though.

It came from ebay, as did the four agate pendants and all four of the stones that I'm going to wrap. But I've seen instructions on making the tree of life. I just have too much on my plate to try one right now.

I know what you mean. Problem with them is that they can stretch their neck out far enough to reach the back of their shell, and they're fast as greased lightening when they want to be. Very dangerous animal, and they don't like anything, except as food. When they get that big, they're capable of taking off fingers. Children and pets are in danger with one that size around, believe me. Actually, a snapper doesn't have to be that big to be a hazard. Their beak is like a metal shear. Might be a good idea to speak to the owner of the pond to let him know where his fish are going.

I guess I should do a better job of explaining the pond and woods behind our property. There's about 30 acres back there, all undeveloped woods. That means lots of underbrush, wild rose bushes, poison ivy and of course trees. It all belongs to a neighbor a couple houses away from us. The "pond" is really just a series of hollows in the ground that get filled when it rains. They dry up mostly in summer and since they don't actually connect to any rivers or streams I'm pretty sure all that is in them are frogs. Oh, and weeds and fallen branches. So, not exactly the lovely pristine pond with koi you may be envisioning. None of our cats go outside and we have no young children.

Well, snappers are often rovers. If the food source gets scarce and the pools dry up, he'll probably move on.

His 30 acres sounds like a lot of my almost 80 acres. Multiflora rose is a real pest. Plus, the briars from the raspberry, blackberry, and gooseberry as well. I have a couple interesting shots I just got that I'll try to remember to post later on.

Hubby, Kibby and I went to the beach a few days ago for just a couple of days. It was cool the night we got there and after that there was a lot of wind & rain from the tropical storm. The wind was unbelievable. The waves were very big, we did not get to do any swimming.

We went to the N.C. Aquarium and got to put a shark & stingray. The main reason Kibby wanted to go there was because the have an albino alligator. It looked very strange.

We took lots of pics which I will post as soon as Kibby up loads them. On Friday we went to a place that had all kinds of snakes & other reptiles.

I don't think this party cost very much. Jenn's boyfriend's mom is a cook in a restaurant and she made a huge tray of pasta, one of chicken & potatoes and a salad as her gift. There's chips, soda and beer (you could save because Kibby is too young to drink). Cake and brownies and the boom box providing music at the moment. Later on the band Mike is in will be playing. Badminton or volleyball on the lawn. I'm sure Kibby will enjoy whatever you do for her.

Right now Kibby is driving my crazy. She is worrying over every cent that is spent. She will say she wants something then say she should not have gotten it. We keep telling her that if she wants something ask, if we can get we will. If we don't have the money for it we will tell her. This goes on every day over every thing. She did not want me to get her pickles, because she said they cost too much.

On the trip we let her get a 25 dollar ride arm band at a small carnival near our hotel. It took her 2 hours to decide she wanted it and to convince her to get it. She spent the next day saying she it was too much & she should not have gotten it.

She is saying she does not want a party, but when I ask her if it is because she doesn't want to spend the money or does she really not want one, she admits it is a money thing. I have no idea what to do about it.

How about you contacting her friends yourself in secret and arranging that they give her a party as a joint present?

So long as somebody (you?) co-ordinate who brings what it could be a great party and needn't cost anybody an inordinate amount.

I hope you are feeling better, Ginny.

Jenn's boyfriend got a full time teaching job in a middle school. He will teach chorus, string orchestra and a couple general music classes. Very happy for him! This year was his first year teaching and he taught middle school chorus, a .6 position. He will not be in the same town he was this year. They're thinking they may stay with us another year and then move someplace about half way between their jobs. Currently Mike has the longer drive each day. It's good to see his hard work and teaching skills being rewarded!

I will AnnMarie and thanks. He's had a tough road and at 30 is just beginning his teaching career. However, that means he is more mature and has more life experience than those just getting out of college. He brings a lot of different talents to the job - gorgeous tenor voice, wonderful bass player, directed a musical last year, teaches band camp at WestCONN every summer. He's fun, strict and compassionate. If I was a parent of a young child I would absolutely want him for their teacher. Oh, I'm not the least bit prejudiced, either!

The battery on my NOOK tablet gave out. If you look online the official Barnes & Noble line is that batteries cannot be replaced. I didn't bother to see if that meant you CAN take it to a B&N store and pay them to put in a new one. Jeff checked around and sure enough, found a company that sells batteries and a set of tiny tools for removing the old one and putting in a new one. Add one very helpful online "how-to" video and Jeff had the old one out and new one installed in about a half an hour. It's working just fine. Cost, about $45.

That's good to see, Priscilla, because my wife has a Toshiba with a supposedly non-replacable battery. When the time comes, I hope I have the same luck.

I'm feeling better, with medication, and congratulations on them getting teaching jobs, and getting the battery replaced
