Green puzzled about inscription

I have a question about an inscribed book that I bought. After AMC inscribed it, she added "April 22, 2002 at Dragonhold". Does anyone know what was going on at Dragonhold at this time? Seems a little late for her birthday. Does she get a lot of visitors/allow visitors to her home? It just seems a little odd unless she really liked this person. Well, I really like the book anyways. I'm pretty sure the signature is genuine too. Any guesses anyone?

I don't know about that date, but I can tell you about three visitors exactly one month later in 2002: Hans, Anneli and myself!

Anne does get occasional visitors, but it's also quite possible that the book was sent to her to be signed and then was mailed back to the owner. Or a local friend of Anne's was getting it signed for someone. Also quite possible that she had a late birthday party that year, I would think -- it doesn't always work to gather people one wants to celebrate with on the right day.

Who is the book inscribed to?

I'd forgotten that you and Anneli met up with Hans for that trip! I read his story about it a long time ago! The book says "For a proper Irish "Sean"" I asked the previous owner and he just said that he got it in an estate sale and didn't know the history of the book. Here's link to a picture (until I figure out how to post the actual picture):

How fascinating! Now of course, you need to find out who the "proper Sean" was, no doubt!

After about 2000 Anne started to add place and date to her signature/inscribing books. Before she almost never did that.
I don't know exactly why she did that, I never asked, but she just started doing it. I also observed that she does it more iften ar home, so to speak, than abroad.

It is not because the dat is/was special. So you need not be puzzled. Later books I have that are signed by Anne, especially those at Dragonhold, have the same addition and the dat on those is only special - for me - because I was at Dragonhold at the time!

A lot of authors do that now Hans, both add a date and place. It can be helpful in authenticating a signature, presumably because a forger isn't going to know when an author was where.

As far as I recall, the only Sean in any of Anne's books (of whom the recipient could be a 'real' version) is Sean Shongoli. Unless there's a Sean Lillcampe?

Hans...I was more impressed that it was signed at Dragonhold and in May...my birth month, than in the year. I love that it's more than just her signature, which you know I have quite a few of...wink!!

Dragonbuddy...I have several of those kinds of books too. One of them is my favorite story, my 1st Edition of *The SHip Who Sang*...but nothing in this world would get me to replace it, at least not now...as I had the chance to ask Anne herself if she would sign it for me...the first time I met her, where she remarked on how well used my copy was. That book, and meeting is one of most favorite memories...well that and Copenhagen, where she read that same favorite story aloud.

Just hope you have all avoided "Thrones, Dominations" by Jill Paton, claiming to be writing from an outline that Dorothy L. Sayers had provided for a final Peter/Harriet novel. It's appalling, folks. Badly written, for a start - and for those of us who adore Lord Peter and his Harriet, a desperate let-down. The characters are nearly unrecognizable. Sigh.
And Edith, no, I haven't seen those WWII Wimsey papers, but would love to!

So do I, though Jill Patton writes a better book than, say, Dan Brown.

I've heard rumours that he's planning yet another; this time focusing on the dark side of the St Johns Ambulance Brigade (since they're descended from the Knights of St John of Jerusalem). Presumably the baddy will be something like an ambulance driver with CP
