Oh? I thought it was a pun. But I might well be wrong. It certainly wasn't a visceral joke.

I pronounce it the mid-wales way- far too softly. the LL's are hardly gravelly at all!

Hmm, Now that it's mentioned, Wales does sound a lot like New Zealand. Sheep, mountains, rugby and funny accents

Dyfydd Op Owen cannot be mistaken as an American for the simple fact that were that so, he would have simply been called David Owen. It's intimated that he most likely grew up and was raised in Wales and moved to America at a later date.

Rhyssa however, as she was born in America would fit that description, even though, I'm still going through my 1000's of notes trying to determine any wisp of information about her parents. LoL We can assume that they were raised with Sally and Dyfydd in The Eastern Center....so therefore they would have been raised as Americans.

Indeed. However, I get the distinct impression that Angharad Gwyn's parents emigrated directly from Wales. So that makes a direct ancestral link between the Owens and the Gwyns less likely.

Out of curiosity what gives you that impression? Other than the very direct and obvious Welsh names.
