Well, there's always the supermoon, which would've made yesterday's floods worse with king-tides blocking the water. I didn't see it last night, but tonight its skipping through the clouds.

And this video shows what Wellington had for a tsunami on time-lapse photography. The beach faces Cook Straight with the lights in the background being the airport.

And P'ter's right. I'd hate to see this Forum go and I am in every day but only reply or Post something when I have something to say.

I hope we can encorage more activity here, at least on a par with AMCF, the only other operative Anne McCaffrey Forum on the Web these days which will make it worthwhile for Cheryl and her husband to keep this place going.

I'm glad to see the site return, it's not easy giving up something you've gotten used to!

I have a question. Has anyone heard anything from Lady Maelin? I had her on Facebook and "lost" her. She has either deleted that account or made it so no one can send her friend requests. I have sent her emails and snail mail with no response. At this point I just hope she and her family are ok.

AMCF has not had any McCaffrey posts for a very long time. I'd love to see more "what if..." type threads, and "I wonder what happened after ....." Can't think of any instances now of course, but not after "Skies"

I was thinking back to the post I started the thread.and what has changes. Kibby was only 15 years old and was having to get her baby teeth pulled. My grandniece Emmi was only 0nly 2 and Seth was a baby. We were still in the old house. It is hard to believe how much life has changed in a few short years.

She's still on Facebook, Cilla, but her last post is September last year.
She did react to my moving house and journey to South Africa last november/december.

There was an author (Danish I believe) who wrote short poems with illustrations he called Grooks. The author's name is Piet Hein. I wish I could get more copies of his little books but they seem to be out of print. Anyway, without looking up the exact quote I would paraphrase part of one of his Grooks:

"Quite without wishing a man to the Devil,
One may be permitted to hope for the best!"

Edit: happily, I am wrong. You can purchase his books on Amazon! Yay!

Cilla, I liked South Africa tremendously. What a country, what fantastic nature and such marvelous people! You're not on my facebook? You could see some of the photos there. We had an absolutely fabulous time there. I ate every sort of meat I could order, including crocodile, and we very much liked switching our winter for their summer with temps of about 100 F!

My husband has ordered me all six "books of Grooks!" He has never read any of them, I think he will like them.

We are getting a one to two inch dusting of snow. Naturally schools are delayed at least two hours.

We got our first snow of the winter yesterday; coincidentally, the first of the year. Since it had turned off quite cold (for us), it's a light, fluffy couple of inches. Right now it's 6 degrees F. Don't have a conversion table handy, so let's just say it's colder than a witch digger's brass monkey.

Our newest neighbors (the ones with two giant SUV's) are leaf-blowering the couple inches of fluffy snow off their driveway. Apparently the entertainment factor of neighbors is limitless!

Since it had turned off quite cold (for us), it's a light, fluffy couple of inches. Right now it's 6 degrees F.
