Selling it on ebay.

It's quite alright Platinum! Promoting your own auction(s) is allowed, while we strongly encourage people not to post random auctions that people might be interest in (if you want the logic behind that, I'll dig up the topic where it was discussed).

So the child isn't for sale with the game? Bah! I'm not interested then! Though that does make postage cheaper....

I can include child for another £60 postage...

And I understand the logic I don't want people bidding on an item I want lol

That girl is pure demonspawn!
*I taught her well*

I am hoping that it'll go for somewhere approximating a decent price. The bat detector I want costs £55 and ebay sales will fund it!

yes, and thankfully for you, you work and aren't on benifits, so you can be happy about spending a little out for something that would have made up 1/5th of the bat detector it is going towards.

Dammned ebay charging to add a buy it now or reserve
£50 minimum reserve as well you know! Cos THAt doesn't just suck!
Damn the fact that I only have 40p in the bank as well, or I'd add a buy it now feature!

Yes.
Yes I am!
I have a bat out the back of mine and I am unsure what he is. Want to find out, but I also wanna find more of em that i can't see.
I'll get one sooner or later!

And thanks Lady Maelin!

No posts in here were meant to sound petulant, but that is the way I was coming across! Didn't mean it!
I'll find enough stuff to sell in the house to get one at some point

How big is he?
That's a start- we have lesser horseshoe bats here (Montgomeryshire) and Pipistrelles at Aber- I had to remove one- after phoning the bat people- from the fireplace! Didn't realise how much of a picky rooster a bat can be! I had to carry him around the garden until he settled to roosting under the bridge!

That's Alfredo he has a missus too!
I am assuming pipistrelle, possibly Soprano. he looks a little big for pipistrelle, but he ain't a noctule...

HE is the reason for my want of a bat detector.
I'd be happy with a second hand one, but can't even find one of those! Prefer a heterodyne one *grins*

Have you got hold of the bat people?
can't remember the name of the group but they should be able to tell you what he is!
He's not a horseshoe- he's only got little ears!
Mum's got a book somewhere...
pipistrelle is about 2" long with 8" wingspan!

Would you believe it, Newcastle doesn't have a bat group that I can find

I am going to call the countryside center tomorrow, they may well have something going or know of a group. I may even be able to borrow a bat detector off them till I can afford my own!
if now, grand sale of items starts on the 9th and 10th of August if I can find enough things to sell!!

And I am not too sure on his size really, he is SO fast. He LOOKS to be around 3 inches long, but that could be with his tail and the skin flap at the back added...

There IS a "short-eared" bat variety.

Have you tried English Nature? Or The Countryside Commission? I've had to use them if we're trying to renovate a building with bats in. With their help I had to design a bat roost once (about six years ago).

There is a national bat group- they're based in London. They're the people I had to phone last year!
they're in the phonebook. They were in our standard BT phonebook (Midwales) I haven't got it handy at the mo!
I wish I could remember the name!!!

Ask them about detectors. I've been warned that a lot of the gadgets are total c**p.

I got in touch with someone!
I contacted Durham bat group and the man there has put me in contact with a woman from the Northumberland bat group which we come under here.
When they get in contact, I will grab one of them about a detector. Aparrently the cheaper end ones aren't as good, but to be frank, I can't afford anything BUT lower end, unless it's second hand then they may be able to help possibly...

I checked the BCT website, and the detector they say is a brilliant first one is the one I am going for.

http://www.batnet.org/acatalog/Magen..._Detector.html

I am saving for a dual one after I get that one. Shouldn't take THAT long...
I hope *Blinks*

Thanks for the address though P'ter!

A guy at my local branch of Maplins found a circuit diagram somewhere and built his own. Lots cheaper.

Plenty online.
Sadly, I have no access to a soldering iron (WHY does that look wrong?!) and have no clue as how to follow circuit diagrams, or I'd have an easier time saving up cos the kit is only £34.
Durnit huh!
Unless anyone wants to build and send me one?

I have a soldering iron.
I could build you one but...
postage might be expensive and I don't want it blown up cos ttheres a load of suspicious looking circuitary in a parcel!
circuit diagrams are just maps and you can get lists of symbols!
you can get kids ones but I don't know how good they are. we had one and it lowered the pitch and amplified it but that was all!

*Nervous*
They say they aren't for beginners is the only thing that worries me!
haven't even LOOKED at a circuit diagram since I was 11!
few years back now!
Saw one online today and was NOT impressed!
Course, by the time I buy a soldering iron I may as well just buy the box ready made lol!

Still... if it worked it'd be worth it lol, just scared in case I beggar it up!
