Okay, you're a movie producer. You have an unlimited budget and -- what the hey -- a time machine. You can cast any actor ever born in your version of Dragonquest. So who would you use?

I'll start things off:

Lessa....I always saw a 1970's era Adrienne Barbeau as Lessa

Cate Blanchett's too tall to play Lessa, I think. I'd prefer someone quite petite, dark (although that can be arranged with a wig and some dye for the eyebrows), and not conventionally beautiful. Minnie Driver? Kristin Kreuk would be good too, although she may be too beautiful... Tom Welling or Jason Behr as Jaxom?

Brett Climo and Guy Pearce were great as brothers in Snowy River: The McGregor Saga.

I'd like to see Viggo Mortensen as one of the oldtimers or abominators. He's a great bad guy. And fantastic on horseback.

Viggo Mortensen as F'lar? Hmm. Could be, could be. He looks great on horseback, so he should be just fabulous a-dragonback.
Denethor was played by John Noble. Yes, I could see him as Meron.

And the voices of the dragons would have to be provided by whoever plays their riders because in Dragonsdawn, Sean's dragon's voice (I'm ashamed that I can't remember the name; I think it was Canoth?) was a deeper tone of his own voice, the same with Sorka's Faranth.

F'nor- Orlando Bloom(like he was in Pirates of the Carribean and in Troy) don't ask!
Robinton- Ian McKellan(with shorter and slightly grayer than white hair than as Ganalf in Lord of the Rings)
Lessa- Liv Tyler(as she was as Arwen in Lord of the Rings)
Kylara- Diane Kruger

I always thought sally field would have made a perfect lessa. She allways has a firery strong character style and she actually fits lessa's written discription. I all ways thought of 2 of the baldwin brothers playing f'lar and f'nor. I allways saw brad pitt or brenden fraiser as jaxom. Don't ask me why

Saphirdrache I like Claudia Christen for Lessa! I never thought of that but her speech to the shuttle pilot and his crew that had to be towed back from the planet is classic and I can see Lessa giving that same kind of speech!!

When i visualize Lessa, that dark 'daren't cross me' look in her face, when i'm reading Pern, i literally see those same expressions of Caudia's from B5. hehe. The woman has Presence! And isn't she about the right heigth for Lessa? Or is she too tall? If camera-angle is tricky enough to make Kirk look 6 foot tall, then if Claudia is too tall, it shouldn't be a problem 'downsizing' her stature.

I just can't stay away from a Casting thread I have a HUGE list, but I'll just mention the ones I like most -

Lessa - Amy Lee from Evanescence!!! She just seems perfect with that dark look and I don't think she's very tall either. I just can't picture anyone else as Lessa.

F'lar - James Caviesel (Passion of the Christ)

Piemur - Ben Savage. He's too old now for some of the earlier parts, but watching reruns of Boy Meets World, he fits perfectly.

Jaxom - Tom Welling could work, but he seems too built. How about Jake Gyllienhall?

Sebell - Michael Shanks (gotta have a Stargate person in there somewhere )

Sallah Telgar - From the very first moment I've always imagined her as Famke Jansen

Meron - I agree with the suggestion John Noble.

i would say famke as sallah is almost perfect...or at least perfect when she's courting tarvi...but after she had kids? i think famke would have to EAT SOMETHING to play a woman who had four children

I forgot Ewan McGregor! He'd be great, just without facial hair . I totally agree with Spaceman Spiff about Amy Lee as Lessa. And while I think that Sean Connary is a bit too old to be Sean Conell, he'd be great as Robinton.

I'm not sure if anyone's seen it, but the BBC's Monarch of the Glen has a character named Golly, played by Alexander Morton, the old gamekeeper, and I think he'd make a superb Weyrlingmaster, especially C'gan, just by the way he looks and his ability to convey approval or disdain with a simple look.

I was just thinking about who could play Robinton who has both a commanding and a gentle side. Could Sam Niel work as a mid-age Robinton? Not perfect really, but he seems *alright*.

As a young Mirrim I'd LOVE to see Mila Kunis (Jackie from 'That 70's Show') She could VERY easily play a bossy type.
