Default A very engaging subject...

As some of you may know, I just had a flight down to Oregon to meet my girlfriend Kalina for the first time! We've known each other for nearly 16 months, and a couple for a year. Meeting her was the highest point of my life, it was so wonderful to finally hold the woman of my dreams in my arms On the 8th , our first "anniversary", we drove to the coast and walked on the beach. It was SO beautiful there! And then when the right moment came, I knelt down and asked her to marry me. And she said YES!

It will be a long engagement, at least two years, but she's more than worth the wait

Do you think that this is a suitable subject for an open forum?

There might be sensitive people looking at this!

Well done anyway.

There doesn't seem to be any smiley for an engagment/wedding.

(I had spotted this on the other place but prefer posting here)

It may end up being a long engagement, but as long as the rest of my life is with Spiffy (:giggle then I'm very happy.

Kalina and Spiff,

Much more than minds have met today,
two hearts together beat,
and may I join your friends and say
I wish you happiness each day
and joys together sweet.

To beat together, happy heart
to know such love complete,
today I dedicate my art
to celebrate your lifetime's start
and joys together sweet.

I wish the best for you both, and a long and loving life together.

Actually we even seem to be compatible in home-living. We both have the same peeves in housekeeping and the same general style. Except in laundry, I toss everything together in the load and she separates colors and everything. But I always do my own laundry and keep up after myself, tidy up after cooking. I don't like to clean up after careless messes of others, so there's no way I'd expect her to clean up after me or do all the housework. I believe in teamwork in a household, so that things don't become unbalanced, otherwise it leads to resentment.

Hear! Hear!

Though I have to admit Nick keeps tidying my stuff up! I can't see the point to be honest- I'm usually using 1/2 a dozen textbooks anyway, so I tend to leave the where I need them!!!!

btw... have you seen what that stupid related articles thing has put up at the bottom of the page.

I presume it's an anti-omen, just waiting to anialate all the omens. (sorry doing my general physics problems)

Well I'm not one to object to mild clutter, as I tend to leave things out as well if I'm using them often. And I certainly don't mind cleaning after someone else from time to time, it just annoys me to clean up after negligence on a consistent basis. I think we're both on the same page with that, so we don't need to worry

Good attitude you have there Spiff, It helps when you go into a relationship as a true partner...sharing all parts that make it work. When you work together to make it all work...it does.

Don't forget to do a lot of laughing together, humor makes a wonderful glue...it helps you to stick together.

 I could hardly breathe those few times we were laughing so hard!! And yes, it's always good to be able to laugh through something than just be all withdrawn in embarassment.

As far as your jokes go, as long as you can put up with mine, I'll put up with yours.

We'd first intended to wait a couple years before we got married, but after looking deeper into the immigration stuff, it's going to take a lot longer than we anticipated, and being married before moving will help things along a great deal. It doesn't solve it, there's still lots of other things involved, but it does help. And we didn't want to have to wait three or four years before we can live together, and we're ready NOW dammit! So the marriage plans got bumped up to... February 14th

We're having the wedding in the Honeymoon suite at a hotel in the nearest city, a very small, modest wedding, just my parents and grandparents there (no one from her side could make it ) We have a cake much larger than we need, but because we REALLY wanted that Minas Tirith cake. My grandpa sprang for a professional photographer, so yes, there will be LOTS of pics! We're also having the ceremony video-taped, so I hope there's some way to get it on the computer so everyone can see.

She'll only be here for a week and then she has to go back. Under the circumstances there's no way either of us can live together right away afterwards... she's able to live in Canada however long she wants after we're married, but she wouldn't be able to work unless she had a work permit up until she got permanent residence, but she'd need a job offer from an employer here first, and that's unlikely... and it's the same the other way around, except I can only stay for six months at a time until the immigration papers and stuff are approved. But we have decided that I'll be moving down there to live when the time comes. So until then we'll be traveling back and forth and staying as long as possible, as much as time off work will allow. It's not as convenient as we'd like, but it'll be worth it in the end My next visit down there will be in May for her birthday.
