Default Website for my wife's garden allotment society

As some of you will know gardening is my wife's hobby but she'd probabyl say it isn't a hobby but a way of life . She has a pleasure garden of about 3300 square feet in a garden allotment society of which she is also a board member.
Most of you probably also know I am a parttime PR officer and Modern Media Manager. I used to dabble in digital media and making websites and thus taught myself part of what I nowadays need to do my job. Of course I built and maintain my own website but it has been a long time I since I really made something myself.

Since the garden society needed a website (they still hadn't got one) I decied to help out my wife and her society by making one. I didn't build it from scratched but adapted a template I found.
You probably won't be able to read a word of it but I still offer you a look. It isn't done by far but we did go public about two weeks ago. Reactions were positive.

I understood that I was being "welcomed to the website of" Belang but that's as far as I got, Hans before my Dutch went downhill .

Excellent work! I really like it. Lot's of content and modest decorations. Just the way it should be.

I like the colours as well and the flowers on top and on some pages fit.

Some annotations :

1.) Who is www.belstat.nl and why do they want to set 2 cookies on my computer, each time i visit a different page?
If it's, as i guess, for statistics : Doesn't your hoster provide you with clicks and and visits?
And yes, i don't like (computer) cookies.

2.) The tabs on top (home[0],nieuws,tuintips,...) look a bit to much like a Frontpage () template to me. But that's a question of individual taste.

3.) On my system (Opera 9.63 on Linux) the highlighted tabs "overlap" the semitransparent row placed between them and the flower.
Two screenshots:

But again, this are only marginalitys. A very good design!

Wow what a smart set up! Tell Marjon most of our allotment sites still look like yours did in the 1960s.

I very much enjoyed getting to Marjon's garden club site. The older photos of way back in the 1960's and then again to this last years photos, is amazing to see the growth and change. I hope that they get lots of visitors...and perhaps a few new members that love gardening as much as Marjon does. Am I right that some of the photos show a few gardens that are for sale?
You did a lovely job Hans...[as usual] for the garden society...I think they will very much enjoy having it, and getting to use it, and to keep in contact with each other during the winter months and share their photos.

Yes Maelin, there are indeed some gardens for rent/sale. It seems they like their website and that was my goal. Someone already told me he started scanning more old pictures, and I like that very much as I will also copy them for the archives of the local historical society

Perhaps some of their old garden photos could become a special exhibit in one of your Historical Society events, bringing out even more old family photos and beloved memories of old Rotterdam. Marjon and her group could supply the flowers for the event...a wonderful merging event for both clubs.

That's a very good idea, Maelin In 2010 they celebrate their 65 year anniversary, maybe that'll be a good time.

Glad I could suggest something for both of you and Marjon's
groups to enjoy together...it should be not only very interesting...
but a lot of fun for all concerned as well. Let me know how it goes !!
