There's no rotgut in MoM's cellars: Hans sees to that (don't ask what he does with it)

I need a quit corner to hide in. I just did the most stupid thing I have ever done in my life. I went to give Mom her night time dose of insalin only I gave her the daytime doseage of 35 instead of the night time doesage of 12. I am going to stay up all night to make sure her sugar does not drop too low, & fed her as much sugary stuff as she can handle.I feel soo stupid right now.

I am not a drinker either. I have a glass of champagne for the new year and another one for our anniversary. The old body just cannot take hangovers. I did my share when I was young and that was enough. Water is the drink of choice these days.

Mom ate walffles with real syrup, hot chocolate with mashmellows & cookies. We kept a close eye on her sugar & it never dropped. This morning it was 157 which is higher than normal for her. No one got any sleep, but she is fine.

Don't feel too badly, Maw. It was a simple mistake and you've been under a lot of stress lately. Just chalk it up to "Lesson Learned," as AIVAS would say, and be more careful but don't worry about it.

How about geting Kibbie to check on you? Afterall; if you were nursing her in hosiptal, every med would be checked; and, if she were a Type 1 diabetic herself, Kibbie would be expected to inject her own meds.

Now, since you're having such rotten weather, how's about a glass of mulled red wine?

Many years ago I was living in a sort of "generations" household that included me, my (then) small daughter, my Mom and my Grandma. Grandma had an assortment of complicated problems and was taking a lot of meds. My Mom was a Registered Nurse and we had a written chart of when she should have what, but even so we cross checked each other to make sure everything was doled out correctly.

Kibbie some times give Mom a shot. She has been real helpful. Kibbie is the one who helps Mom with her range of motion therpy. My sister * I do not have the strangth in our hands to move Mom's arm around, so Kibbie does it. It figure if I only give day time shot then I KNOW th correct amount is 35. If some one else does the night shot then they KNOW it is 12. So there will be no confusion.
