Anyone seen the new trailer yet? It looks pretty cool, though, I don't know how "Narnia" it will be. I'm still reserving judgement... I will definitely be there Dec. 9th to see it!

I'll go and watch it, because I love Narnia.

Of course, you know the movie probably won't do the book justice--they hardly ever do.

After watching the trailer--
1. Lucy looks too young
2. Isn't Susan supposed to be blonde?
3. At least Aslan looks "real" (not like the WonderWorks version of the movie--which I have from YEARS ago)

I think it'll do. I just really hope they make it through the whole set of books and don't just "stop" after a few. It'll be interesting to see how they work with The Horse and His Boy .

I'll go and watch it - one of my neighbours got to the final five kids shortlisted to play Edmund. He didn't get the part in the end, so I need to see whether the one who did get the part does a decent job of it!

Dramatic/poetic license.

Sigh.

Thing that ruins most screen adaptations.

either it's:

a) magic;
b) radioactive; and/or
c) a consignment of geriatric shoe-makers.

I loved that movie when I was little! I would watch it over and over again!! No movie ever does a book justice. But I'm still excited to see it!

I thought Lucy looked about right. I don't remember exactly how old Lucy was in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but she was young - I thought between 5 & 7, which is what this girl looks. I thought Susan was blond too, but it's not integral to the story and I'm not going to quibble over that - that's a little closer to "fanatic" than "fan". I did think the wardrobe glowing white then opened was over the top.

I also hope they make the whole series, though, I think that is the plan as long as they are done well and make money (or at least make money - "done well" doesn't matter if they are still profitable ). I also agree on Aslan - I like that he looks like a "real" lion in the trailer.

I can't say I thought it looked very LotR in any way other than a fantastical one. I mean, the major setting in TLtW&tW is fantasy.

Red face Re: Chronicles of Narnia

Thanks, Carter.

Haven't been called fanatical over anything in a long time.

Didn't mean to be, at any rate (although, to a certain extent, isn't this forum FOR fanatics?).

Also, I think my preference for the character of Susan as a blonde might also be a hold-over from those Wonderworks movies. Right off hand I can't remember the books describing her as such.

Since I gave my set of Narnia books to a niece, I need to visit the library and freshen up a bit.

Nothing wrong with being a fanatic as long as you don't hurt anyone
Anyway, i'm not to worried about the little stuff either as long as they have the good stuff in it. The speciall affects don't bother me so much as writers adding lib to a classical series. I need to reread the series too it has been years and I almost don't remember most of it!

I'm sorry, Certl! I didn't mean it that way... didn't even think of it when I typed that out. My point, though, is that if the movie is a great movie, I'm not going to hate it because of small details if they do get the feeling or spirit of the movie. I do hate it when they change things for no real apparent reason, though!
