Can't say I'm surprised. I've got internet access, but AOL keeps sending free trials every few months. If they're despewrate to MAKE people switch over to them, then they'd be desperate not to lose anyone. :P

I heard about this over the weekend and it doesn't surprise me a bit. It's one of the reasons I cancled my account YEARS ago!!

Sokar, this was hilariously sad, we must have talked to the same representative. He didn't want us to cancel ours account either . It took my husband about thirty minutes to get them to close it. Thank you for posting this, it does a body good to know that someone finally got them to appoligise for there crummie practices.

I forgot to say that I'm glad the worst experience we had with AOL was them trying tocharge us for long distance calls when we were using a local number. It was one of those '100 hours free' things or however many hours it was back in 1999.
Gues we got it canceled before that particular person started trying to keep people from cancelling.
