Well, I go in for the Eye Surgery on Monday


Have to be at Wellington Hospital by 07:00 in the morning and I will be staying in till Tuesday. Probably coming home around Lunchtime or in the afternoon.

Lots of rain here in the Netherlands this week and low temps (15 C). I came back from southern Spain early in the week and had to adjust from 35-40 C to 15 Celsius!

My brother had both of his Corneas replaced, years apart, his end vision was corrected to very close to 20/20, my Sister, Grace, has had 1 transplanted so far, her doctor is now considering the other eye. They both suffered from the same disease called " progressive keratoconus ", My sister also had very good results. Again Best wishes for your eyeballs ! They are doing wonderful things.

I've had a swollen area on the right side of my face for several months. It was mostly noticeable when I was laying down on my right side. I went to E.R. once and regular Dr. once. Neither one could feel the swelling, mostly because I was sitting up. 2 weeks ago I Jennifer and I went it with sore throat caughing ect.. told it was virus. Jennifer got better, I got worse. Dr. decided that my virus turned onto an infection of some sort. Gave me antibiotics. My face is now almost normal. Wich means if the first 2 Dr had actually listened to me I could have had it all cleared up by now.

First Post Op Clinic yesterday.

So far so good. Looks like right eye graft is taking and settling in properly this time around so I'm pleased. Still have the problem of the Cataract in that eye, but Surgeon says we'll deal with that once the graft heals up properly.

Went to large Harry Potter thing in Staunton Va today. It was fun, but hot and too much walking. Now I'm caughing again.
My sister took Kibby up yesterday, so she could LARP after they did most of the Harry Potter yesterday. The LARP group met at a member's house. They had a bonfire, food and drinks. I was good and stayed home with Mom yesterday.

Glad things are proceeding well for you, Kugai. Maw, I understand your frustration with medial care. I went to the local hospital emergency room in an ambulance twice and was given an alburerol breathing treatment and sent home. I couldn't stand up, much less get up the steps so friends took me to another town and they immediately recognized I was having a heart attack. Go figure, It wasn't my first and the local hospital knew my history. I think after a person gets a certain age the insurance companies don't want to pay. Oh well. Water under the bridge, I guess.

Saturday was the first birthday of my twin granddaughters and we had a party that was loud and fun! Their father would have been so proud! Firefighters from two stations brought pizzas with lights blazing.

I'm suppose to have minor surgery on Oct 11, but I am still doing a lot of coughing and the right side of my face is swollen, again. I have Dr. appt on the 5th. I have a feeling that surgery will be postponed.

They may throw you on some Antibiotics for that and delay the Surgery to get that cleared up. They did that with me in July when I picked up a Chest Infection just before I was due to have mine and shifted it till last month..

I have a feelung that is what they are going to do. I have made arrangements for Mom to stay with sister for a couple of day and getting Jennifer to and from work. The sister I live with is goi g to stay with niece, so I don't have do stairs. If they postpone, we'll have work it all out again.

Hi again. I went an had another heart attack September 26 and am back in the nursing home for rehab again. Maw, I hope everything goes better for you!

Glad to hear it, Sandi. I'm glad I'm just dealing with the after effects of a bout of sinusitis and bronchitis that just wouldn't clear up and some seriously tiresome trouble staying asleep. I fall asleep well enough, but wake up in the very early morning and I'm unable to fall asleep again.

Got to hospital at 2pm for check in. Which means sit in waiting room for at least 2 hours. Got taken to preop at 5. Got taken to O.R at 7:30. Could not eat after midnight, water til noon. Nothing after noon. All for a 30 min procedure. Home at 11:30. All is well, I going to bed.

Last night some idiot, pretending to be paypal, tried to charge me £63 for a game called Farmville (?). Two hours later some (other?) idiot tried to charge me £84 for the same game!

Both tries had "if this is not you" links (both different). One contained the word "blog" and the other the phrase "-is-a-geek". How professional!

I love the phone calls where someone says they can lower my credit card debt. When I ask them which card and which bank, they usually hang up. I don't have credit cards. They hang up when I tell them that.
