Well, I can laugh at the spiders, frogs and snakes, because they're mostly harmless, but the cockroach in the food doesn't sound very healthy.

She didn't say so, but I'm willing to bet the critters were all artificial. I gotta wonder if the girl will ever want to return. Hell, I wonder if she's still wanting to go with the grandson.

Remind me to never visit you, Bats. Your hospitality is beyond the pale!

You guys do know that, in British English, bats means loony, psycho, crazy? As in: "Her? She's bats!" So, really, no surprise.

The derivative 'batty' is kinder, carrying the meaning of slightly eccentric. Both from the original phrase - "She's got bats in the belfry".

Oh, I don't know, fried cockroach is a delicacy in some countries...evidently insects have protein. And then there's insect popsicles, not that I'd ever eat one...

If I ever was to visit Bats, I'm sure there would be a few choice treats for her, courtesy of Junior who would happily find them for me

Yes I did, Farclas. It's an old expression here, too. Just not used much any more. Just like "***" used to mean "cigarette".

Well, if that girl put up with all that and is still speaking to either Bats or Grandson, she's a jewel to be treasured.
