I recalll finding the scrip of Trouble with the Tribbles in my textbok, in one class and recall how hard trying to get the questions and or terms written down, before class got done.

It is an effective way of getting kids to read,...something..., anything. It worked well with my family, we are all "Readers" all of us have " a book going" all the time. But with most people that sysem gets old, more and better choices are needed/wanted. Others, quit reading, I know some people that have told me they haven't read a book in years. Their Loss.

It makes sense to have a book that the whole class is reading, discussing, and doing assignments on. My elementary school classrooms always had a shelf of books we could read on our own as well - but not during reading class, unless we were finished with the assignment. I was always getting in trouble for reading instead of paying attention...
