Has anyone ever read any of his books? Hes known mostly for the The Riftwar saga which I have read all of. I've also read The Empire Trilogy which I devoured almost as eagerly as my beloved Pern books. For fantasy fans I definatly recommend them.

Here's a list of his books:

Silverthorn (1985)
A Darkness at Sethanon (1986)

The Empire Trilogy:
Daughter of the Empire (1987) with Janny Wurts
Servant of the Empire (1990) with Janny Wurts
Mistress of the Empire (1992) with Janny Wurts

Krondor's Sons:
Prince of the Blood (1989)
The King's Buccaneer (1992)

The Serpentwar Saga:
Shadow of a Dark Queen (1994)
Rise of a Merchant Prince (1995)
Rage of a Demon King (1997)
Shards of a Broken Crown (1998)

The Riftwar Legacy:
Krondor: The Betrayal (1998)
Krondor: The Assassins (1999)
Krondor: Tear of the Gods (2000)

Legends of the Riftwar:
Honoured Enemy (2001) with William R. Forstchen
Murder in LaMut (2002) with Joel Rosenberg
Jimmy the Hand (2003) with S. M. Stirling

Conclave of Shadows:
Talon of the Silver Hawk (2002)
King of Foxes (2003)
Exile's Return (2004)

Darkwar Saga:

Into a Dark Realm (2006)
Wrath of a Mad God (2008)

The Demonwar saga:

At the Gates of Darkness (2010)

The Chaoswar Saga:
A Kingdom Besieged (March 2011)

Are these all part of one series or does each trilogy or whatever stand alone?

I've read Riftwar, Serpentwar and Empire - each group does stand alone, at least as far as those ones go. The early books are certainly worth reading, and the Empire trilogy was the set I gave away last when I finally purged my bookshelves. Read them in publication order, and stop when you've had enough - the early ones are classics, but they do head into Extruded Fantasy Product territory after a while. Sure, some people develop a taste for gourmet spreadable cheddar... but there are better books out there.

So far I've read them in order too. It is nice to found the characters you grew to know in one series pop up in the next but I still have a long way to go.
