My husband went on a conference in France this week and had a stop over in Germany. When he came home he had bought a very nice (although slightly on the expensive side) gift for our now 6 month old daughter.
She absolutely loves it and it could be the beginning of a huge collection of dragons. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nefermi...n/photostream/ Because yesterday when we went to town we came home with yet another dragon, although this one was part wagon (hmm.. a wragon?) http://www.flickr.com/photos/nefermi...n/photostream/ Hmm... tried to use the image thing, but they dind't show, so I just put the links.

She is indeed a cutie and deserves the best toys in the world.
We are happy to see that she is also taking a big interest in books. Here's a photo of Laura and her dad reading side by side each a book in hand. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nefermiw/6933966138/ Maybe you know the book my husband is reading. ;-) (I handed it to him when he didn't know what to read, and he really likes it. Says it's the best book he has read in a long time.)

So cute! I'm glad your husband is enjoying Ireta! That pair of books doesn't have many fans.
What does the dragon-loving baby need to pack in for an over-night trip? A dragon bag, of course!

Ane...your little Laura is absolutely beautiful...the cutest baby I've seen since Fiona. I see she has already been to the Zoo, and started off in life already with a nice asortment of books. Love the photo of Anders reading with her...that one brought back memories of Martin reading to or with our daughter. Enjoy her every chance you get...time passes by so very quickly.
Oh Cheryl...I love that dragon bag...and I don't care if it is for kids!!!

Lovely daughter and fun dragons. I get dragon toys for my grand kids, although I don't think they like them as much as I do. Hopefully theny will grow to appreciate them as they get older.

Bruce...as they grow up perhaps you should start them out on a story or book of Anne's that you read to them from to go with the dragons...and later gift a book to them to read for themselves...with luck you will have a developing AMC fan, that you can share with. Several of us have other family members that have learned to enjoy Anne's books or stories that way.

Lady M, my oldest granddaughter lives just 2 blocks away. She has been reading the Narnia series lately, so maybe I might start her on the Harper Hall trilogy, and if she like them, start her on DF,DQ, and TWD. It's not as if I don't have extra copies! I saw a cute stuffed dragon in the grocery store today, and can use that as a combo. Thanks!

We started to read to Laura (my daughter) when she was 2 months old, but when she discovered how to rotate and move about more, she couldn't keep still long enough to enjoy a whole store. She is now 14 months and I am trying to introduce bedtime stories to her go-to-bed ritual, but she is unfortunately too full of energy and wants to run around and not sit still.
![]() She does love books though and already have tons of them (some are my old ones from when I was a child) and she loves to take the picture books out and scatter them all over the livingroom floor and then sit and point to all the pictures.

Bruce...the dragon is a fantastic idea...it's visual, something she can see while she reads the books. The Harper Hall stories are the best pic [IMO] since she is a girl...she should love Menolly and that should do it for interest in the rest of the series. Good Luck...[IMO]the love of reading is the best gift we can give our children.
Unfortunately I started out with my favorite of Anne's stories, *The Ship Who Sang*...but none of my girls took to it...I should have started with the Harper Hall too...

Well Lady M, I did it. I took my granddaughter,Ariel, and her folks to the airport this morning for their trip to Disneyworld, and gave her a copy of Dragonsong. It is the pb edition with the lovely Elizabeth Malczynski cover. These were the covers that I was first introduced to forthe Harper Hall trilogy. I had bought this book and it's companions about 3 months ago for $2.00 each. They were in such great shape I could not pass them up. Now they will have a great new home with my precious Ariel. I also gave her a great little blue dragon stuffed animal. I hope she takes to them as I have. Planting the seeds for future fans for Anne's work.

Bruce...the Malczynski covers are some of the most beautiful and artistic PB covers of the Pern series...and a wonderful choice and way to introduce the series to your Ariel. The blue dragon... an excellent choice... and I agree you've a possible AMC fan of the future, lets keep our fingers crossed that she ends up enjoying it all as much as you do.
