These are both Gyles's questions!

Question: Dragonsinger, with Dragonsong, show us hall, hold and weyr. How does this picture compare to that shown in the adult trilogy? (Gyle)

Question: Is the relationship of Dragonsinger to Dragonsong comparable to that between Dragonquest and Dragonflight? (Gyle)

Yes. It is certainly comparable. Both books use the same main character(s) and continue chronologically after each other, though Dragonsinger is directly after, and Dragonquest is seven Turns later.

There is also the fact that in both Dragonsinger and Dragonquest, we see deeper into the workings of Pern than in the prior novels, and both sets of two are similar instyle, as in the first one is - in the light of the second - a travel TO the conditions which exist in the second novel, such as Lessa bringing the Oldtimers forward in Dragonflight, which provides the anatagonists for Dragonquest, and Menolly meeting Robinton and getting to the Harper Hall in Dragonsong, which sets the backdrop for Dragonsinger.

And they show us how different societies cope with the changes around them - bringing the Oldtimers and living with them (DF and DQ) and a girl becoming a harper and, well, living with that and accepting it (Dsinger, Dsong)

We also see, the day to day going of a minor hold, behold to a Weyr, which is quite 'hidebound but doing their duty to the Weyr. We also see that change is hard and why Menolly ran away holdless instead of be molded into what right traditional for a young woman, not letting her music show after the old haper is gone, and when the new one is there.

Also more into the getting ready for hatching at Benden Weyr. in Dragonsong

We see how day to day going is of a Major Craft hall in Dragonsinger. Also how the craft hall reacts to major happening around Pern.

Adjustment in both books.
