I don't think Canth was especially noted as a Search dragon in general, but rather noted that he was good at spotting gold candidates. (Setting aside this doesn't happen in DF, where when F'lar notes the dragons sense a power in Ruatha F'nor says "Even my brown feels it" and that after DQ it's never really brought up again.)

Maybe Canth is just good at picking goldriders who are good at being subservient to forceful Weyrwomen?

I don't know--he was mentioned in DQ as Searching for queen riders, meaning it wasn't just a fluke find with Brekke, but again, once it's not plot relevant we never hear of it again.

I know that he's decidedly not a goldrider, but--N'ton. In DF he's one of the first candidates Searched after F'lar wins the Weyrleadership, and it's said that "he can even make Canth understand him" and it also says that in People of Pern. So. . . .I'm not sure what that concludes, actually. Did Canth search N'ton?

Does it matter? He's still a cool guy, that part doesn't change.

Yes, also F'nor said that most of the searched are from craft hall and such, not doing something with holder bloodline. too dark to read for me. DF

DQ He had been Searching in Fort territory, and that they acted odd, until he id himself as Benden rider, for there was a gold egg on the sand, so he was looking for young men and women to impress, (Not as Fort Weyr was taking them on so Search and have them do something else if I recall right.

He was doing something for the Wyer while searching in Telgar territory at the Smithcrafthall, about the lining on the kettle cracking, for R'mart was as I can't recall the right word as the moment, sticky

Actually, we do see F'nor and Canth Searching at Ruatha in DF.

Interestingly enough, we get bronzes Searching in MHoP, though possibly as escorts. We do see Cortath speaking to Robinton, though, so perhaps bronzes may be able to sense good Impression candidates/just sensitive kids.

I can't think of any, unless someone else can come up with one.

I always figured that Canth could Search so well because he's-well-cool, not necessarily because it has anything to do with his color. Mnementh's super-intelligent (sometimes even more so than the average bronze), and Canth needs something to make him special, too.
