Re: What is happening

There's nothing like a couple of cats in full "midnight crazies" mode racing up and down a wooden-floored passageway for keeping someone awake!

Re: Printer Hall

Just as a matter of curiosity, how do they cut skybroom if it's super-hardwood?

And Lady Nadona's just being picky - If she wanted the portraits big enough to be seen across the room what was...

Re: What is happening

The Doctors would be more than a little bit alarmed about the "cardiac problem" too, especially if they are not sure what is causing it. It doesn't take much to put the anesthetists off either. ...

Re: What is happening

As for blood clots in the lungs - been there, done that - twenty years ago. And had major surgery a year later. However, I was in my early 50s and otherwise fit, and we do have a state-funded...

Re: Way forward?

I'd say yes. It's much easier to clarify your ideas when you can bounce them off someone else. But I've got a few questions of my own. Like, what was the nature of that collaboration and how much...

Re: What is happening

We're going to have an interesting situation of a similar kind here. A post-lockdown spendup by my landlord has scored me the new stove that I've been waiting four and a half years for. Trouble is,...

Re: What is the tithe rate?

That makes sense, at least for the major routes. Mining would involve the same skills and tools. At the time I asked I was writing a fanfic that started in an isolated hold in Nabol, and the Lord...

Re: Fur and textiles on Pern

People also spin the fur of samoyed dogs, and we know that Pern had canines. I have also seen a very beautiful cloak made of narrow strips of fur from a white, long-haired dog. In a museum, before...

Student project on Pern

Just to show that people are still thinking about a movie about Pern. This project suggests to me that the author warped a question about gender supremacy to express her own interests. I did the...

Our whole country has had that for a week, with at least four more weeks to go. Except, no groups at all. We're expected to stay in our own "bubble" even when exercising out of doors. My bubble...

Re: What is happening

Bread freezes quite well. So does milk. I live on my own so I often freeze both. The main problem with freezing bread is the amount of space it takes up. Stale bread gets turned into breadcrumbs...

So are we in New Zealand. The idea was to hit it hard, hit it fast, and hopefully not let it get completely out of control. Our parliament has declared a nationwide state of emergency and put...

Re: Pern -- the grand plan?

You might like to re-think rabbits and ferrets, Altair. As a colonist I can tell you that both are absolutely devastating to indigenous wildlife and flora, especially the ferrets.
