Re: Favorite Terry Pratchett book, character, movie or all three! :-)

Night Watch by far. Just amazing on so many levels. Personally, I'd love to see it as a film, but I imagine that would ruin it...so much of the book is inner monologue, and that wouldn't translate...

Re: List of Pern's Volcanoes?

Is it on the way to the Cove? I thought that volcano was in the west; where Seminole and Key Largo stakes (Holds as of Skies of Pern) were set up. It's marked in the Atlas as "Piemur's Volcano".

Re: His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik

Eighth book's out now; Blood of Tyrants! Finished reading it a few days back, and it was very good! Although I got a bit confused at times as to what was going on; there were a few too many jumps...

Re: Macedonia & Cathay

Urgh, very old post, but I finally answered my question (sort of) while re-reading the Ninth Pass books again.

Re: Brekke and Re-Impression

Personally, I don't think it's anything physical that stops a rider re-Impressing, I think it's more a mental thing...or rather, what they're thinking. I seem to recall someone suggesting that an...

Re: Please help. Reading order.

Hmm...let me think...

You might as well finish the Ninth Pass stories if you've just read the White Dragon...and it would seem you've reserved all the books in the series (bar Masterharper, which...

Re: Age of Fire series by E.E.Knight

I read somewhere that E E Knight's toying with the idea of a prequel with NooMoakh as the main character, which would involve Anklamere and his rise and fall from power. Here's hoping he gets around...

Re: Age of Fire series by E.E.Knight

I dunno about that; it might not have been as good as the earlier books - certainly I'll have to re-read as I think I missed a few things - but I still enjoyed it! Course, I was aware that the last...

Re: Between times and places

I get you; I've wondered about this myself. I think I have a vague idea of how it works...describing it is the hard part.

We know that a dragon can hypothetically go between to any location or...

Re: Do weyrs have doors?

Dunno about the airlock door, but I seem to recall two of the Todd books vaguely bringing this up. IIRC, when at Igen Weyr, the various characters find small niches either side of the doorways, and...
