Re: Fan questions

I was agreeing with you until I thought of something. A dolphin would be used to looking at their own fetus', and both species being mammals of similar sizes, there's not much difference at that...

Re: When Do Dragonets Start Killing Their Own Food?

There's a scene in TWD where Ruth eats all the whatever he was eating up leaving none for the fire lizards to pick over because they were remembering him stealing the queens egg or similar.

Re: Robinton Question

iirc.

Menolly, in DSi, copies her songs onto those new paper sheets. I'm also remembering something about them being invented in one of the first 2 books.

Also in DSi, Petiron is described as...

Hmm, Now that it's mentioned, Wales does sound a lot like New Zealand. Sheep, mountains, rugby and funny accents :)

Re: Ballybran Wildlife

Hans, that quote is from the end of CS isn't it, and made by the Guildmaster.

From memory, it's when Lanzecki is feeding killa up in preperation for her first passover/the Trundie mission.

Re: Fan questions

I think the much more mundane answer as to why Lessa couldn't have more kids is just that some women can't.
Riding dragons between would just make things worse.

Re: How is "weyr" pronounced?

People of Pern makes reference to T'Gellan watching someone who doesn't know he is watching her. Mirriam obviously.
iirc, People was written after White Dragon.

Re: Map of Benden Weyr

I must admit (He says looking at his own copy) that I do like the cover art. It's a lot more fantasy than realistic though.

Re: What kind of animals should Ballybran have?

Well, there are indications of fish life, crustacians of some sort, and worms.

Given the plants there's a chance of insects, mostly beetles, but then the only 'native' plants mentioned are...

Re: Ballybran Wildlife

Fisherman. The first 'cutter chief' was called Fisherman. Since only Singers leave the planet, Fisherman mustn't be able to leave the planet.

This does imply that there are fish native to...

Re: Pernese versus Terran terms

Hmm, Hold seem more analogous with community whether that is a village, city or farmlet.
Beast Hold would be a hold devoted to raising livestock.
Sea Hold to fishing in the sea.
Hold generic,...

Re: Pernese versus Terran terms

From the description it's an arthritis. Joints swelling, and I believe in Dragonsong it mentions the odd shaped knuckles you quite often see. Then there's the harpers retiring to the equatorial...

Re: Dragon Politics

Um, iirc, K'net was away doing some 'foraging' for lessa's behalf, and F'lar was chasing him down for it. I didn't think R'gul had anything to do with it.

Re: thread: tasty snack or flaming nuiscence?

I've always wondered if thread had an alkaline 'skin' on it, and if that was what produced the burns. At least in part.

That, and some enzyme action, could explain the burnt nature to a thread...

Or on the old theory that after so much...

Re: Would you want to be a shellperson?

You know, this is really a good question for Stephen Hawkings, assuming that he'd read the books of course.

Aparently my nearly 3 yr old wants to be a shell person. :)
