Egg-bearing

How long is the fertility of a queen dragon? I was wondering because Ramoth has been fertile for (without checking dates) 25 to 30 years. Any ideas on how much longer it would be before Lessa has...

Lessa's actions

I've been thinking about Lessa's behavior after Fax's death and I just can't make sense out of it. She's just gotten what she wanted and her response is to run away and then rather stupidly climb...

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

In the books Lucy is clearly identified as blonde, just as Susan has dark hair and is stunningly beautiful. I like the actors to at least try to match the books.

On topic, that's why I changed my...

Let's just say that we hope they do MUCH better with Pern. After all, they have a visual guide to go by!

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I know! How hard would it be to find a blonde to play Lucy or let the actress wear a wig? And Susan! Geez. She's supposed to be a legendary beauty, instead we get a so-so pretty actress with...

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Okay, I'm sold. Forget Tamzin, Devon Aoki is perfect. I'm something of a purist and I think the actor should look as much as possible like the character. The casting in the Narnia movies ticked me...

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Here's a pic of Tamzin. I tried to put it in the post but it's too large.

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I could see Mila as Lessa, but Analeigh would not work for the other two. She's way too tall for Brekke and frankly just doesn't have the right "look" for either one. I still favor Tamzin Merchant...

Skywaterblue Thanks! I love that thread, it really goes into the logistics of weyr life.

Feeding your dragon

If this has been discussed before please feel free to delete this thread.

I find myself wondering how many herdbeasts/wherries/other animals it takes a week to feed a dragon. How many does a...

I'm beginning to be doubtful of that, D.M. I'd have to go dig out my copy of Dragondrums, but I seem to remember Piemur talk about hair or fur side.

Re: All the fics of Pern

I'd love to see a longer story where Menolly and her dragon (gold or otherwise) play a part in the overall story of Pern. Aside from Lessa, we really see very little of the queen riders.

There is one scene where Piemur washes his fouled furs in water. I always thought that was a major no-no for fur.

Fur and textiles on Pern

I know I'm not alone in daydreaming different scenarios for Anne's stories. One thing I would change, simply because I feel she got shafted, is Jora's situation. F'lon is hopelessly shortsighted...

Re: F'lar and Lessa: Why?

You're welcome. I still don't buy it. Among other things they'd have to know how to do blood transfusions, how to type blood, etc. I just don't think they had that knowledge any longer.

You know, just because the conspirators didn't mention one, doesn't mean there WASN'T one. I don't think Jaxom exactly let the whole world know about his dalliance with Corana.

Re: Fandom-Moan-ium

Lily and Kath, a lot of Anne's male characters really didn't seem to see women as PEOPLE. They were convenient lays, at best. Only a select few elite were treated with any kind of respect.
