As the usual alternative would be iron or wood, my guess is for aluminium. The downside of that is that processing the bauxite is a real bitch on the environment, but perhaps AIVAS knew something we...

Has anyone ever asked Anne what she meant by 'metal-poor'?

I guess it's one of those things that bugs me. No space-based culture would ever bother with 'traditional' metals stuck at the bottom...

Cheryl, why do you assume there wouldn't be that much of it? Titanium is really a very common element, and such an elemental light-weight that it'd be hard to argue its absence in the same manner as...
