Astronomical Conjunctions in May

I've been up early most days this week enjoying the fine conjunctions of the 4 planets and the moon. The moon has of course disappeared but on Sunday I am rising early to go to a local lighthouse...

Re: Non-fiction anyone?

I read a lot of non fiction. Some I've really enjoyed, in no particular order:
Ebola by William T Close - a real grab you by the throat account, I couldn't put it down
Fever by JG Fuller - about...

Re: Anne's book dedications

Err - how did we get onto Dick Francis here? It's interesting to me, as I have all his books, but I just wondered if a post has gone missing somewhere . . . ?

Re: Jean M. Auel--Earth's Children The Land of Painted Caves

Er, no, it's not. It is filled with pages and pages and pages of descriptions of cave paintings and cave formations and cave noises and cave . . . You get the idea?

JA was obviously VERY...

Re: Jean M. Auel--Earth's Children The Land of Painted Caves

I actually found this forum from the Auel board. #s 1 & 2 were great, #s 3 & 4 good, #5 was ho hum, and this one is just tedious. A very disappointing final book of series after a 12 year wait!

Re: Worst Books

And the 'romance books' (Mark of Merlin, Ring of Fear, Kilternan Legacy, Year of...

Re: Dragon eggs and hatchling size

semantre's maths makes sense to me. There is also reference to the newly impressed boys walking down to the bowl with their arm across the hatchling's 'shoulders'. As the boys are usually...

Re: New Talent Books: "Barque Cats"

I haven't read any of these yet. As Mum to 6 inside cats -they have a cattery in the garden and an enclosed 20x 2m verandah on the west side of the house - it is a huge oversight. Off to check...

Re: Just get her to Sixty Feet- A Whale Tale

I absolutely loathe killer whales, they are marine life hyenas. Thanks you for sharing, and I am so elated the mother and calf escaped them. I do hope the baby made a full recovery

Re: Restoree: Sequel?

The first of her books I ever read and I would have LOVED more of this system / thread of story. I thought there was ample fodder for a whole raft of back story books on the theme

Pern developed into what was essentially a feudal class society so far as the Lord Holders. They had 'dominion' if you like over their tenant farmers/serfs (cot holders) and the drudges were merely...

Re: Food of Pern

I have to say I love sausage rolls, and they are much better cold. However, one must have tomato sauce (ketchup), they are no good without it. They last well for 12 hours or so for lunches - I used...

Re: Should Todd's books be considered canon?

I have to say I didn't think much of Todd's efforts, I found them rambling, not very well written, with errors, and I really found them hard going. I have sold them all on ebay and won't be buying...

Re: Well. they are making the movie.

Firstly, let me say I loved PJ's treatment of LOTR. While he did add to some characters and change others, it was done well and tastefully and made the movies the economic success they were. I was...
