Major Oak, Sherwood Forest. I'd go back there in a heartbeat. Nick thought he'd need a crowbar to get me to leave.

As always mine is on Coronado Island...looking at San Diego on a beautiful day.

Two of my favourite places:

The Grand Canyon, Arizona. A passing tourist took this photo for us.

Glen Coe, Scotland. Lanen took this photo.

Farm "De Steege", just over 200 years old, has been a haven for our little family since Niels was very young. He was always allowed to help the farmer and that's why we chose this place. We have been there so often for holidays both long and short that the owners have become friends. It is situated in the Twente region (near the German border, in the east of the Netherlands) and it is a nice, tranquil area, ideal to "unhaste" and recuperate from a hectic life!

I visited Turkey for the first time last year but immediately fell in love with the country, its people, the sights, the food, everything! I know I will absolutely return there. We traveled around this big country and I couldn't chose north, south, east or west, it's all bloody marvelous. The picture is from Turkey's "grand canyon" area in Cappadocia (imagine old, not matching tables and rickety seats along the rim of the Grand Canyon) :)

My favourite placce is the beach: almost any beach. This one is in Suffolk and the 'statues' are the top of a wave eroded groyne.

I have a lot of favorite places, so I decided to go with some of the ones I think of as my "Happy Places," the spots I run to when I need to get away from the world.

This waterfall is up the canyon directly north of my house. The picture was taken in the fall, it has a heck of a lot more water in it this time of year.

This is Andrews Lake, up near Molas Pass (elevation 10,910') I think that's Snowdon Peak behind.

I think the portrait of Steven at Glen Coe is fabulous. Because he is in it you get so much more perspective (besides, it's a good portrait, too).

And Maelin, that's a nice skyline. I hope to see it myself this year!

Thanks Hans. The Glen Coe portrait is Lanen's. I really like your beautiful house. It looks like a great place for a barbecue.

Lady Maelin's picture actually reminds me of Rotterdam that day you took me on a river cruise. The skyline along the river looks like that in some places, due to the competition to build the tallest building.

I love Pam's lake - absolutely gorgeous. Pam, every time you post a landscape I end up thinking, "Wow, I must go there one day." I've built up quite a list now. :D

AnneMarie, I visited the Major Oak years ago, and I'd love to take Lanen there one day.

A groyne? Not in my dictionary.

If she's like me at all, you'd better take a tow rope to get her OUT of Sherwood afterwards. Nick thought he'd need a prybar to get me to leave.

There may not be much left of the original Sherwood, but what there is, is magical.

Hans...We are very much looking forward to seeing you both this year:heart:...and showing you some of the lovely sights that are in San Diego.

Steven...it's really wonderful to know that other places, especially in Europe, have a similar look to our beautiful places here in the States.

Wow. That's like one of the nicest comments/compliments my photos have ever gotten. Thanks :)

Blondmum: groyne = fence or other construction to stop sand/gravel from travelling along a beach.

As usual, this is very hard to narrow down. I'm quite fond of the two beach houses I got to stay at this past summer, but I think both are still topped by one I stayed at with Pam in LA. That was the most restful vacation I've ever had. Perhaps because it was the first after my twins were born, taken without them, and because I got the rare experience of being a morning person and watching the sun rise every day, thanks to jet lag.

One local favorite place, Sherwood Gardens where the tulips (and azaleas and cherry trees) are gorgeous every year. This one is from this year.
