Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Spacedog has got to the point, "okay whatever makes you happy". At least he looks in occasionally (mainly, anything that's not McCaffrey related, here on MoM but ... he knows who she is :D and did buy me 2 books at xmas time - now if only I can convince him or myself to update on the Petaybee series.)

Next question: Who is Elizabeth Kerner? Never read any of her books and looking for something new to read, so are they any good?

Her books are FABULOUS!!!! :good: I don't read many other authors other than Anne, but I did pick up a copy of her first book (on recommendation of other MoMers :D ) and FELL IN LOVE with it! There are three in the series at the moment....Song in the Silence....Redeeming the Lost....The Lesser Kindred....and a 4th in the works! :bouncy: I went in search of the other two books after reading just a few pages of Song in the Silence. So I'll say....yep, they're good.

Oh, by the way............(sorry I shouldn't laugh)....but if you see any posts here by Lanen.....well.... she IS Elizabeth Kerner!!! :D

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
I totally endorse what Becky said and if you like fantasy and a totally new look on dragons (and THAt is not easy to do in literature!) you can't do without Elizabeth Kerner!

It's just VERY frustrating there are only three books... yet... But the are good, they are VERY good and Becky and I certainly will not be the only ones recommending them :)

Becky already gave away that the author is a member here, so with that you also know that she is married to another highly valued MoM member name StevenB :)

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Okidoki as you would say Hans. It was a momentarily lapse of concentration, should of realised, having a blonde moment ;) I knew I had seen the name before but not everyone has their names out in BIG RED LETTERS from real life (I know my MoM name is a combo deal of first and last real life names, I guess others would be in the same boat) and some people do like the anomynity of it *shrugs shoulders here*.

I think I asked at the time because I've ran out of things to read for the moment and wanted other opinions (no offense to Lanen if that's the case) as to what was on offer in the big, wide world of books. Something that was new and different to what I normally read. That and get Catherine Cookson's autobiography out of my head  which I read in like 3 days flat because it's too hot here at the moment to do much. The heat kind of got to me and my last day for the working week was very hard to get through. (It's been 40oC ++++ for the last few days so hence the need to have something else to concentrate on, barring the heat, feeling very deflated at moment. Anyone wanting to throw snowballs at me, go right ahead and make my day???)

P.S, Sorry Lanen, I didn't realise/connect who you were in real life, shall now endeavour to go find a book or 2 or 3 but at least, for those of us (like me, hehe), you now have our attention for wanting to go out and buy some new books.

Thanks Becky and Hans for pointing me in the right direction.

<-----Another one waiting eagerly for book 4!

jube Jan 31 2009 01:54 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Guess what, I actually went out and ordered the books so now eagerly awaiting books 1, 2 and 3. You mean there's a 4th one. No fair! O well at least this will keep me going for awhile :D:D:D until #4 comes out, :D:D:D

P'ter Jan 31 2009 04:22 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Lanen: please take note. We've got a queue here waiting for #4.

(Mind you I'm still looking for number 2!)

Lara Jan 31 2009 05:26 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Hear-hear to what P'ter said - I want more Lanen and Co.!

Hans Jan 31 2009 05:42 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
In a special version, P'ter? There should be enough copies to be bought through eBay.

spacedog Jan 31 2009 08:48 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
P'ter, Jube says that you can get them through ebay as the bookstore, she brought from, had them individually and as a set of 3. She decided to get all 3 in one hit as it was cheaper, p/h wise then getting 1 by 1. She says hi and appologises to Lanen for having a blonde moment - Jube did not have a good week, this week. She wants a new air con for the rest of the house. Told her, she has to save up for it.

P'ter Jan 31 2009 11:27 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
She could sell a few more books to A) raise the dosh; B) leave room for the installation of said 'egg nishner'

StevenB Jan 31 2009 01:59 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
I'm Elizabeth Kerner's number one fan, but I'm glad you like her too. :D

As for :book: number 4, you should be talking to the publisher, Tor, not Lanen. We're still waiting to hear if they are interested in it. :pcpoke: I'm looking forward to reading that story.

Lily Jan 31 2009 04:39 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Interested in it!!!!!! You surely don't have to wait for that for a fourth book in a successful series!!!!

And Jube - there are lovely pics of both StevenB and Lanen in Lady Maelin's gallery

Lily Jan 31 2009 04:44 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
I can't find any pics of Lanen and Steven :(
I know they're somewhere - I've seen them
Does the list need updating???

:D Pretty Please :D

spacedog Jan 31 2009 05:15 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
She already went to the electrical shop yesterday, found it was $2500 to $3000 for said model and installation and went "yep, no problem-o". Minor problem, I know she hasn't got that much saved up yet  from selling books and dart stuff online. Then she tells me, we have to buy a new toaster as our old one blew up. I did say she was not having a good week

jube Jan 31 2009 05:31 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Me, grumble..................:roll::roll::blush:

Lily to answer your question, find them here:

As said previously, I was not having a good week, last week, can't you tell? If it had been good, well......the brain would've worked eventually  I'm "so over" the heat at moment.

Hans Feb 1 2009 06:02 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Lily, apart from the Master Maelin portraits you'll fiund pictures and even a little movie or two in the thread about Eurocon in Copenhagen in the Events Forum.

jube Feb 1 2009 07:12 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Hans, *very cheekily states here* I love you too *chuckles madly * I would have woken up to it eventually  (by the way, thanks for doing that, - it's nice to know one has good friends pointing me in the right direction - now how does that song go "Lean on me, when you're not strong, And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on....." Bill Withers).

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
I could have sworn we had a thread about her books, but I can't seem to find it now!

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
It didn't get archived, did it?

jube Feb 1 2009 07:38 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Found that too, Brenda:

And I remembered to "dot" it instead of "@" it, this time, Hans  Jube's back

Link doesn't work for me.

That's funny. Now it does!

jube Feb 1 2009 07:47 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
It should now, Kevia, I was in process of editing my post to get all the details in correctly (spellcheck etc) - sorry for the delay.

That's ok. :D

Lanen Feb 14 2009 08:55 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Hiya folks - and thank you for all the VERY kind comments! Hope you're enjoying Song in the Silence, Jube, and please don't feel required to say something nice. My work is not to everyone's taste. ;)

As for No. 4 - well, I'm taking today, Valentine's Day, off to spend with my darling husband Steven B, and tomorrow I'm back at the computer. (Or possibly Monday. Tuesday at the latest :notme:) Have not yet completed the plot summary for my editor, and she needs the full thing to be able to sell it to the Tor high honcho and the marketing people. Alas, publishing is a business...

Though I have to say, No. 4 is going in directions that NONE of us expected! A new set of characters alongside many of the originals - and yes, Lanen is very much still in the mix. Causing trouble, as usual!

Thanks for the thread, folks, it does cheer me up. Happy Valentine's Day everybody! :D

(though perhaps not *quite* as tall as in the book...)

jube Feb 14 2009 09:01 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
That's okay, Lanen. I'm procrastinating at moment, due to re-reading the Petaybee series. My appologies for not making the connection between the RL you and your MoM at the time. I usually try to keep up to date with things but obviously I was having a "blonde" moment . Have read some of the 1st though and it's just getting my head into it again.

Lanen Feb 14 2009 09:05 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
I shouldn't worry about it, kiddo. Some days I forget myself! ;) And I am not now and have never been blonde. Especially not since Miss Clairol came out with dark brown to cover the grey! :D

Good to hear you're reading Petaybee, Annie Scarborough is a good writer and much undervalued.

jube Feb 14 2009 09:14 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
But then again, Lanen, I can't say I'm a "true" blonde or a "true" redhead, I'm somewhere in between :nod::nod: :D:D:D :lol::lol:

P'ter Feb 14 2009 04:19 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
strawberry blonde? (pant pant)

Lady Maelin Feb 14 2009 09:27 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Jube...I know that you have had a great deal of the MoMers here tell you who Elizabeth Kerner is and what she does. Well I am here to add my name to the list of great admirers of her as well as her stories.
Her books are fantastic... grand adventures full of incredibly beautiful
dragons, and wonderfully brave people that you will be happy to join
on their Quest...not to mention some overwhelmingly evil villians.
Like becky said, I also don't read to many other authors anymore, but
after the first few pages, I knew that I had been directed to something
very special. I now have all three of her books [HC's and pb's] all signed
expecially to me. and am extremely happy to have been able to meet,
and enjoy Elizabeth and Steven's company for our short time in Copenhagen.
A trip and memory to last a life time:heart:.

I can hardly wait to read the 4th book:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:...especially now with all that Lanen has told us about it...

jube Feb 15 2009 12:22 AM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
P'ter, ger'off and leave my hair alone, puh-lease, ya' nutter.

Is okay, Lady Maelin, I'm getting my nose stuck back into a book.

Lanen Feb 15 2009 05:39 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Lady Maelin, you sweetie, I'm gonna have to put you on commission! :D Thank you for those very kind words. Just hope I can live up to them...

Lanen Feb 15 2009 05:40 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Oh, and P'ter - down boy! ;) :D

kevia Feb 15 2009 06:14 PM

Re: Who is Elizabeth Kerner?
Lanen, I realize that it will be quite a while, but just hearing about no. 4 gets me excited! You've nicely whetted my appetite!! I can hardly wait for it to come out!!
