If Sassinak was ever made for the large or small screen...

If Sassinak was ever made for the large or small screen, I hearby vote that they hire actress Michelle Forbes to play her. For anyone watching the new Battlestar Galactica, she's currently guest starring as Admiral Helena Cain of the Pegasus, and you've seen that she can play a tough-as-nails bitch of a military commander. While the character of Admiral Cain is more hard-line military than Sassinak (yes, it's possible!), but you can probably see that if she ever cracked a smile, she could also play the at-ease and sometimes vulnerable side of Sassinak as well. Forbes could easily go from that awe-inspiring command presense to the relaxed, feminine Sassinak trying on a designer gown before an elite soiree.

For anyone not watching BG, you may perhaps know the actress from the role of Ensign Ro on ST:TNG, or as Lynne Kresge from the second season of 24.

I don't usually get into casting, but watching the most recent episode tonight it just hit me like a rock that she IS Sassinak.

I saw a trailer for the new BG the other day and was confused... the quality was so much better than I remembered. A few second later I realised it was new material

Having Sassinak made for the small or big screen is an excellent and awesome idea, and much, much easier to do than Pern. Maybe that way some SF program's fans would discover Anne (if they didn't have already).

Forbes could work.

Torri Higginson (Dr. Weir) of Stargate: Atlantis would be good as well in the roll of Sassinak--at least towards the end.

Nana Visitor could be Lunzie and Terry Farrell could be Varian.

:)

After watching Sky Captain, I couldn't decide whether Angelina Jolie would make a better Sassinak or honour Harrington...

Hmm, yes, Jolie would work for Sassinak too. I haven't read the Honor Harrington books yet...

I've always imagines Sigourney Weaver as Sassinak. Who looks a bit like Dr. Weir as McClance suggested :D

They've just started showing the new BG here, but I can't remember Admiral Cain. No Stargate: Atlantis here yet either.

Cain won't have been on yet then Granath, she shows up in the second season.

Thanks! Good to know they find more humans. ;)

I do think that a slightly younger Sigourney Weaver would be great as Sassinak.

Makeup can do wonders ;) Just look at Galaxy Quest, they made her look much younger there. (Then again, that was years ago though)

Michelle Forbes was also Ensign Ro in the show Star Trek: The Next Generation. She played a member of the race called Bajorans.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000405/ This is the Internet Movie Database article/stuff on her.

I think Sassinak was part Chinese - some Asian ancestry. For the whole colony. Not that it would really matter to the main story, but it might add something.

I agree she might work as Sassinak, but personally think that the role should go to an unknown.

Also If David Weber has his way the only way Ms. Jolie will get into an Honor Harrington movie is to buy a ticket to one of the showings. He has a personal dislike for her due to problems brought on by her Cambodian adoption. Basicly the reason being is she essentially BOUGHT the son she later named Maddox, and it goofed up and held up for over a year adoptions for well over 100 other families including him as they investigated.

Ah, but from what I understand, the Author very rarely has any choice on castings.

In any case, this isn't about what the author would want, it's what or who we think would do well in the part.

Which, Kessel, leads to things like ...

Sylverster Stallone as Judge Dredd
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mister Freeze......

:ugg:

And the ultimate Movie horror story.............

Paul Verhoven's 'Starship Troopers'

The biggest butchery of a classic Sci-Fi Novel I have yet to see!

I'll take Charlize Theron for Honor Harrington. She has the height, and the acting chops.
