The beginnings of a dragon
Hi there everybody!

I'm new here, but I have art I've been working on and would like some feed back. It's not finished yet and it's only the beginnings of a Pern dragon's head. The neck and body are only there for blocking and proportions. I have more concept designs, but my sketch book is lost at the moment. So these two pages will have to do. Also if you are curious what computer program I'm using it's Maya 2009.

For feedback I would like to know if the head is too triangular and needs to be more rounded. Also I'm going to be making the teeth and the tongue soon so does anyone know what Pern dragon's tongues look like? I believe I remembered reading in the books that it was forked, but I can't seem to find the exact book or page.

If any of you would like to follow my progress for my little personal art project, here is my blog site.

Hi Cait! I like this dragon, its pretty close to the way see it. I dont think the head needs to be more triangular, but thats my opinion. As for the tongue, I think you're right, it's forked (but dont quote me on that! ;))

Re: The beginnings of a dragon
Finally. another 3d artist working on a pern dragon!! A couple a times a year I search the net for Pern related 3d dragons, and have never found any. You don't know how great it is to see another 3d artists working on a dragon. I finally decided to do some Pern 3d about a month ago, and recently became a member here to share some of my work. Who would have guessed another 3d artist would appear doing Pern 3d.:bouncy:

Your model is looking real good. Topology looks real clean.:good: The design has a real nice flow to it. I see you are at an early wip stage so I really have no crits. I followed the link to your blog and see that you are using Maya. I've never used it, but I hear it has a great rigging system. Is this going to be rigged?

Here is a link to my Pern 3d stuff if you want to have a look.

Thanks for sharing.

Remember Anne's comments about positive 'equine' influences.
