Wanted: Doona series?

Hi, new to the forum and reading through some of the threads have been especially useful!!

i have been buying a lot of McCaffrey books (HC) lately, mostly because I have read all my paperbacks to pieces so it's upgrading time. (it would seem only HC/HB versions can survive my daily re-reading of Anne McCaffrey novels)

If anybody has Restoree and Decision at Doona (HC) or the compiled version The Worlds of Anne McCaffrey (HC) which has these novels, and willing to let them go at a reasonable price, please let me know (pm or here) =). Am based in the netherlands, so I have to keep an eye on postage costs if books are coming from outside of Europe..

thanks a bunch!

Hoi Rachel,

Sorry, can't help you at the moment with the titles you mentioned, which is a pity as I live in The Netherlands :) For a HC Restoree that trilogy is your only chance, They are offered on eBay sometimes but usually pretty high priced.

I do have McCaffrey books for sale though not many hardcovers, so if you have a wishlist...

Hi Hans, thanks for the reply!
I have been keeping an eye out on ebay and other sites. Have found a few, but rapid calculation of customs and postage makes me want to narrow the search closer to home (unless i am absolutely desperate --- which i have been a few times!). Plus some are just too pricey so i end up waiting the search out..

I am still missing...

Dolphins of Perns
Nerilka's story
Dragon's blood
Dragon's Kin
The Masterharper of Pern

All of the Rowan books

The first 2 books of Doona (Restoree and Crisis at Doona) - thus omnibus is great though I just got the Ship Who Sang HC.

I always wondered, are omnibus editions rewritten shorter versions of the original stories, or the complete novel just bound with others?).

anyway, this is about it. it's come to the point i have an excel sheet just for my mccaffrey books and a well worn list of all her works so i avoid doubles if i already have the omnibus.. (not that this has helped since i have doubles and sometimes triples, because i have the PB, single copy and omnibus too in some cases!) :D

Hmm, some of the HC, Audio, and PB do look good used a * too mark one I like.

A question Han Acorna's Children all three (mint) I think they are in ) barly read HC from the SFBC US editions. If (mint) mean all in one no nicks, with orginal dustcovers than I think I starting to understand things.

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

dissephi/ginnystar: Nerilka's story is paired with The Coelura.

Hans May 10 2009 04:36 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

Ginny, I am not offering three Acorna's Children books, just the title given: "Acorna's Children: Second Wave" and yes, mint means absolutely, shining new.

As for the other books you marked, only the biography by Robin Roberts isn't available as Dissephi has an interest in that.
But I'll have to warn you that costs of posting will be atrocious from The Netherlands to the US and you will be far better off to by these titles on eBay where you can profit from national postal rates. With the books you mave marked I can safely say that the postage alone will be dozens of dollars! :(

Hans I would not have any idea how to do E-bay! I just happen to have the three books on buy/trade, and yes I have gotten a airmail package from a NKT member from the UK. Dragonheart on 2 MP3 CD as a gift in 2008!

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

hi all, just got back from a mini vacation out so just seeing the messages now. thanks for all the messages! i have most titles, except for the ones i mentioned. i have just gotten dragon's kin so that is off the list now. also, it's good to hear about the omnibus...i would hate to miss out on the complete stories!

i suppose for doona, i will have to search out the omnibus. the prices are a bit steep off the various sites (alibris, amazon, etc) so this means i will be ebaying longer... =(

P'ter May 13 2009 08:04 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

There's a Rapp & Whiting hardback 1st ed on e-bay currently: but it is £150!

dissephi May 14 2009 02:48 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

Hans, was just wondering if any of those titles you mentioned below are still up for grabs? :D

Hans Nov 11 2009 11:35 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

Samsara, all are still available (more even because I have AMC books, magazines and other stuff I should add to the list) because I never heard back from dissephi nor from the other person that was interested.

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

Hi, currently all my AMC books have been sold so I can't help anyone or even do a swap. Sorry folks but I do keep an eye out for stuff and I usually list on MoM or ebay if I have any spares for sale.

However Hans, just enquiring to see if I can purchase "THE DOLPHIN'S BELL" from you as that's one book on my wishlist. Please let me know costs including postage etc. Thanks.

Hans Nov 12 2009 03:39 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

Unfortunately Samsara was there before you, Jube. We'll see how/if that all works out or if I can find an extra copy.

jube Nov 12 2009 08:07 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

Okidoki as you would say :D I think there's 2 others on my wishlist at moment and I don't think you'd be willing to sell them  so I will need to save up for them but I did find something good the other day and I'll need help on that one. I'll save that for the weekend. :D

Samsara Nov 12 2009 08:24 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

:erm: .... :sorry: Jube... waiting with baited breath to see what you found though... :D

jube Nov 13 2009 01:01 AM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

You will just have to wait (:fiend: fiend that I am :D) as I have to scan them in and that will take me about 15 minutes to do so. This includes taking photographs of items that I've picked up during the year as well then uploading to Photobucket so please be patient and I will do so :D.

There is one thing that I would like to see as a collecting highlight and that is the "Dinosaur Planet / Sassinek" series as I have several different covers of them and would like to see other covers besides the ones that I have so PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP, Hans, Becky or Cheryl ;);):D:D Hinting madly :D:D;);)

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

Hans can you please save the audio tape of AtWoP read by Anne for me as part of the things I'm getting ready to buy from you? I have been looking for one everywhere....

Hans Nov 14 2009 04:33 PM

Re: Wanted: Doona series?

I know, at times they seem to be pretty rare but it happens that I don't have one copy extra, but two :) So, no problem keeping one apart for you!
