Your Pern Movie Cast

I keep forgetting KTBB is closing. I'll copy this here....

Okay, you're a movie producer. You have an unlimited budget and -- what the hey -- a time machine. You can cast any actor ever born in your version of Dragonquest. So who would you use?

I'll start things off:

Lessa....I always saw a 1970's era Adrienne Barbeau as Lessa

AnnMarie Dec 26 2004 09:38 AM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Lytol: Sean Connery
Robinton : Richard Harris (circa "Camelot" era)

F'lar = Guy Pearce
F'nor = Brett Climo

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Good to see Guy getting a gurnsey....

How about Kate Blanchett as Lessa?
Katherine Hepburn as Ramoth?

granath Dec 27 2004 05:21 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Cate Blanchett's too tall to play Lessa, I think. I'd prefer someone quite petite, dark (although that can be arranged with a wig and some dye for the eyebrows), and not conventionally beautiful. Minnie Driver? Kristin Kreuk would be good too, although she may be too beautiful... Tom Welling or Jason Behr as Jaxom?

Brett Climo and Guy Pearce were great as brothers in Snowy River: The McGregor Saga.

I'd like to see Viggo Mortensen as one of the oldtimers or abominators. He's a great bad guy. And fantastic on horseback.

McClance Jan 1 2005 08:14 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Viggo Mortenson as F'lar
Ian McKellen as Robinton
Gut Pearce as F'nor
The-Guy-Who-Played-The-Steward-Of-Gondor-In-Lord of the Rings (Can't think of his name at the moment) as Lord Meron

Lady Cin Jan 1 2005 09:20 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Lessa - Wynona Ryder
Kylara - Jane Fonda or Rebecca DeMorney
F'lar - Clark Gable
F'nor - Tom Cruise
Piemur - Macaulay Culkin
Robinton - Sean Connery
Meron - Rob Lowe
Brekke - Melissa Gilbert
Menolly - Shania Twain
Sebell - Brad Pitt

of couse that time machine would have to pluck them out at the right ages...lol

Viggo Mortensen as F'lar? Hmm. Could be, could be. He looks great on horseback, so he should be just fabulous a-dragonback.
Denethor was played by John Noble. Yes, I could see him as Meron.

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Suzie Plakson as Kylara

And the voices of the dragons would have to be provided by whoever plays their riders because in Dragonsdawn, Sean's dragon's voice (I'm ashamed that I can't remember the name; I think it was Canoth?) was a deeper tone of his own voice, the same with Sorka's Faranth.

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I've always pictured Jaxom as a young Tom Cruise....

Larra Dragonrider Jan 7 2005 05:18 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I think Jaxom as longer face than Tom Welling or Jason Behr, lighter hair

Kater Feb 11 2005 01:19 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Hmmm let's see here (and there would be much Timing it for this list):

F'lar: Conner Trainer

F'nor: Jon BonJovi

Robinton: Sean Connery

Fanderal: Richard Moll

Kylara: Rebecca Demorney

Lessa: Olivia deHaviland

Brekke: Young Judy Garland

Merron: Brent Spiner

Sebell: Noah Wiley

Fax: Viggo Mortenson

Jaxom: Tom Welling

Lytol: Laurence Oliver

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Orlando Bloom!!! I wouldn't care who he played as long as he had long blond hair like in Lord of the Rings.

pictish-princess Feb 18 2005 10:06 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Just to tell you, some of these people aren't actors, at least one of them is a singer.

F'lar- either Elvis Presley or John Travolta
F'nor- Orlando Bloom(like he was in Pirates of the Carribean and in Troy) don't ask! :D
Robinton- Ian McKellan(with shorter and slightly grayer than white hair than as Ganalf in Lord of the Rings)
Lessa- Liv Tyler(as she was as Arwen in Lord of the Rings)
Kylara- Diane Kruger

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I always thought sally field would have made a perfect lessa. She allways has a firery strong character style and she actually fits lessa's written discription. I all ways thought of 2 of the baldwin brothers playing f'lar and f'nor. I allways saw brad pitt or brenden fraiser as jaxom. Don't ask me why

Levallia Feb 23 2005 03:52 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Frankie Munez (spelling?) as Piemur! He'd be perfect!

Saphirdrache Feb 25 2005 12:42 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

i'm gonna try this, dont anyone laugh please ;)

F'lar: Colin Farrell

F'nor: Tom Welling

Robinton: Scott Cohen

Fanderal: Richard Moll (yes, definately!)

Kylara: Famke Jansen

Lessa: Claudia Christian (i love her intimidating presence on B5, seeing Lessa in a bit of a snit seems to fit her in my thoughts!)

Brekke: Anna Paquin

Merron: Rutger Hauer

Sebell: Ewan McGregor

Fax: Sean Bean

Jaxom: Tom Welling (yesyes)

Lytol: Pat Stewart in a heartbeat! :)

Piemur: Frankie Munez (agreed!)

Menolly: Heather Graham (her face, just looks like i picture Menolly in my mind!)

...thats the best i can come up with... i see Camo in my mind's eye, but cant put a name to that actor's face! ack!!) and thanks Kater for your list, that did help. :)

Kater Feb 25 2005 04:10 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Saphirdrache I like Claudia Christen for Lessa! I never thought of that but her speech to the shuttle pilot and his crew that had to be towed back from the planet is classic and I can see Lessa giving that same kind of speech!! :D

Saphirdrache Feb 25 2005 08:25 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Kater,

When i visualize Lessa, that dark 'daren't cross me' look in her face, when i'm reading Pern, i literally see those same expressions of Caudia's from B5. hehe. The woman has Presence! And isn't she about the right heigth for Lessa? Or is she too tall? If camera-angle is tricky enough to make Kirk look 6 foot tall, then if Claudia is too tall, it shouldn't be a problem 'downsizing' her stature.

AnnMarie Feb 25 2005 08:32 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

F'lar: Colin Farrell Maybe

F'nor: Tom Welling OH YEAH!

Robinton: Scott Cohen Too Young

Fanderal: Richard Moll (yes, definately!) I can see this! Or Ron Perlman

Kylara: Famke Jansen Nope, canot see it

Lessa: Claudia Christian (i love her intimidating presence on B5, seeing Lessa in a bit of a snit seems to fit her in my thoughts!) PERFECT! If a little tall

Brekke: Anna Paquin eh

Merron: Rutger Hauer No, he's more Toric... or one of the OldTimers

Sebell: Ewan McGregor maybe

Fax: Sean Bean Possible.I was thinking more along the lines of Robert Conrad

Jaxom: Tom Welling (yesyes) LOL One actor per character, please!

Lytol: Pat Stewart in a heartbeat! This could work.

Piemur: Frankie Munez (agreed!) This works!

Menolly: Heather Graham (her face, just looks like i picture Menolly in my mind!) Menolly no. Kaylara!

How about Sean Connery as Sean Connell

granath Mar 18 2005 03:32 AM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Sean Bean as anything! I could see him as a no-nonsense holder or crafter easily.

Kugai Mar 18 2005 04:31 AM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Paul Muni as Lytol :) :good:

Spaceman Spiff Mar 19 2005 10:46 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I just can't stay away from a Casting thread :good: I have a HUGE list, but I'll just mention the ones I like most -

Lessa - Amy Lee from Evanescence!!! She just seems perfect with that dark look and I don't think she's very tall either. I just can't picture anyone else as Lessa.

F'lar - James Caviesel (Passion of the Christ)

Piemur - Ben Savage. He's too old now for some of the earlier parts, but watching reruns of Boy Meets World, he fits perfectly.

Jaxom - Tom Welling could work, but he seems too built. How about Jake Gyllienhall?

Sebell - Michael Shanks (gotta have a Stargate person in there somewhere ;) )

Sallah Telgar - From the very first moment I've always imagined her as Famke Jansen

Meron - I agree with the suggestion John Noble.

thats all for now :tilt:

D'ana Mar 21 2005 10:03 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

i would say famke as sallah is almost perfect...or at least perfect when she's courting tarvi...but after she had kids? i think famke would have to EAT SOMETHING to play a woman who had four children

Levallia Mar 22 2005 08:24 PM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I forgot Ewan McGregor! He'd be great, just without facial hair . I totally agree with Spaceman Spiff about Amy Lee as Lessa. And while I think that Sean Connary is a bit too old to be Sean Conell, he'd be great as Robinton. :)

i agree, Amy Lee would be a great Lessa.

If it had Johnny Depp I would most certainly waych it!! I don't care what character he plays.

He'd be a great young Robinton, but I definitely think he can be any male character. Except Fax.

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I'm not sure if anyone's seen it, but the BBC's Monarch of the Glen has a character named Golly, played by Alexander Morton, the old gamekeeper, and I think he'd make a superb Weyrlingmaster, especially C'gan, just by the way he looks and his ability to convey approval or disdain with a simple look.

The Harper Mar 26 2005 11:05 AM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Well I've played this game before but here's my cast anyway.
Robinton Neil Diamond
F'lar Oliver Tobias (Arthur of the Britons)
Lessa Kate bush (Her size)
D'ram Sean Connery
G'dened Jason Connery
Fandarel Brian Blessed
Menolly Tanita Tikarum

I could probably find places for Richard Gere Val Kilmer Tom Cruise and Keanau Reeves as well if I had too
cameo Role for Julie Walters as Dunca.
I'll probably think of more later but that's a few

Spaceman Spiff Mar 27 2005 03:55 AM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

My choice for Fandarel was John Rhys-Davies, but I'd actually be willing to part with that now that you mentioned Brian Blessed! He'd be very good as Fandarel too

McClance Jul 17 2005 02:05 AM

Spaceman Spiff Jul 20 2005 07:11 AM

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

I was just thinking about who could play Robinton who has both a commanding and a gentle side. Could Sam Niel work as a mid-age Robinton? Not perfect really, but he seems *alright*.

As a young Mirrim I'd LOVE to see Mila Kunis (Jackie from 'That 70's Show') She could VERY easily play a bossy type.

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

Jaxom = Groucho Marx
Shani = Fran Drescher
Menolly = Lucille Ball
Robinton = Marty Feldman

F'nor = Henry 'the Fonz' Winkler
F'lar = Bill Cosby
Toric = Dudley Moore in a barrel of perch

Re: Your Pern Movie Cast

You'll need a T.A.R.D.I.S. to gather them up at the right moment but here are a few I've thought of:

Fandarel: Brad Garrett
F'lar: Colin Firth
F'nor: Pierce Brosnan
Lessa: Joan Walley
Toric: Rutgar Hauer
Menolly: Amber Tamblin
Piemur: Matthew Broderick
Sebell: Will Smith
Kylara: Nicole Kidman
Shara: Patricia Heaton
