Sled Dogs

Took these today with the digital. Only wish Apache hadn't turned his head!

I like the pikkies but you really need to reset the date on your camera. Apparently today's the 22nd Jan 2006!

Nick corrected that later. It was so cold, we were having trouble with the batteries.

Aww!! AnnMarie these dogs are gorgeous!!!

Are they purebred huskies… or another breed?

Re: Sled Dogs

Beautiful dogs, but photographing in the snow is hell for the photographer... Like you said it is a shame that Apache turned his head because that picture brings the colour of the dog out best.

And I don't agree with P'ter. I positively hate those dates on pictures It is stored anyway, it doesn't have to be there, in the pic! So GET RID OF IT

This is by no means a real job and I only spent a minute or two at it, but I couldn;t resist fooling around with one of the dogs and hauling it through photoshop :)

Beautiful dogs. Yes, taking pictures in the cold is not always easy. I made the mistake one time of being outside for quite some time in the below freezing temp taking pictures of the kids sledding. Had turned the camera off outside and then came in and (stupidly) turned in on immediately to look at the pics. Fried the camera. Condensation is not your friend.

AnnMarie....do you sled your dog/dogs? Those are very beautiful dogs. Taking photos in snow is difficult at best, unless the day is slightly overcast.

Lisa...thanks for the tip on letting your camera warm up...or making sure it or me doesn't get to cold. That was a hard lesson for you to learn...by killing your camera...but hopefully your story will help others to save theirs.

Hans, lovely job on dog photo....!!!

Re: Sled Dogs

L'isa, I don't mind the cold and my camera's don't either (much), it is all the white of the snow that fools the camera! :)

Re: Sled Dogs

The dogs, while gorgeous, don't belong to me. We spent yesterday at a winterfest. Apache is a red huskey. Casey and Cruiser (The photo Hans played with is Casey) are Samoyid. Speaking of.. I know it looks like snow glare on Casey's coat, but he really is that white!

Did you at least get to see them pulling the sled?

You were in the snow but I definitely hear something icy in that sentence... :)

Only through mornings. My child does NOT like mornings.

Tell you what: run your clocks on Greenwich Mean time. Then you can tell her it's midday and she'll still be on time for school (snow ploughs permitting)

Sorry to hear you killed your camera through condensation. :( It can also happen in warm weather as well. On a visit to Hawaii I drove up to a viewpoint in an air conditioned car with my camera. I got out and took some pictures, only to discover the view looked as if it had been taken through fog. My lens had steamed up. Now I always wait a few minutes for the camera to warm up.
